Crema's Take

Los Chilaquiles elevates Mexican breakfast and brunch into something special, with thoughtfully crafted chilaquiles that justify the buzz and equally impressive specialty drinks like their standout horchata. The care extends to every detail—from the quality of the coffee cups to the silverware—creating an unexpectedly refined dining experience that feels authentic rather than precious, making it worth planning ahead for a weekend visit to this Heights favorite.

We made a reservation about a month in advance and went for breakfast on Sunday, March 1st. Even after giving our reservation time, we still had to wait just to get inside. Eventually we were seated, but it took about 40 minutes before we could even find a server to take our order. Although we spoke in English, the server kept responding in Spanish and mostly just nodded, so it was quite difficult to communicate what we actually wanted. After finally placing our order, we waited another 40–50 minutes for the food. At one point someone came by and apologized for the delay, but nothing was offered to make up for the wait. Unfortunately, when the food finally arrived it was far below our expectations, and it was obvious that the order hadn’t been fully understood. The coffe ola turned out to be a regular coffee with a heavy dose of cinnamon syrup — extremely sweet and impossible to drink. The only positive aspect was the live, authentic music, which added a nice cultural touch. However, the volume was so loud that after a while it actually gave us a headache. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. For a place that clearly invested in decoration, atmosphere, and live music, it’s a shame that the service and food fall so short. We went once, we saw it — would we go back? Unfortunately, no.

Came here for lunch on Wednesday. I was welcomed and the restaurant was little busy. The service was great I loved the horchata! I got the Roma chilaquiles and they were delicious and beans were a lot lighter than I’m used to seeing but were delicious. Also my friend got birria tacos were delicious she let me have some and definitely 10/10 would definitely recommend this place. The bathroom Ioved it’s All red tile definitely makes you feel like you’re in Mexico in casita! Loved how cute the frutería with desserts I was so tempted by the cookies. Would highly recommend and definitely come back

First visit, and I loved this restaurant. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant—definitely not a taquería. They went above and beyond with every detail, from the coffee cups to the silverware. I loved that they serve tostadas instead of chips. Along with the tostadas, they offer salsas that go beyond the usual, plus cheese and sour cream, which was a great bonus. Of course, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. I will definitely be back!

Authentic Mexican Food with Heart - Best Chilaquiles in Town! Had lunch here on New Year's Day and what a fantastic experience! I ordered the Chilaquiles Bandera and my wife had the enchiladas in mole artesanal. The chilaquiles were the best I've had in a long while - very satisfying with delicious homemade sauces. The mole is made from the owner's grandmother's recipe, and it absolutely delivered. One of the best moles I've tasted in town, and my wife loved her plate. Despite being short-staffed on a holiday, the service was amazing. The staff was attentive and we had zero complaints. The restaurant was very clean, and the atmosphere was perfect - authentic Mexican music playing at just the right volume, not too loud. It's refreshing to have Mexican music in a Mexican restaurant, keeping the experience truly authentic. A special mention to the owners, Antonio and Carina, who were incredibly hospitable and a pleasure to speak with. They personally checked on us and clearly care deeply about their restaurant. It's evident they have great values and are bringing the success of their 20+ restaurants in Mexico to our city. If this is any indication, they're going to do very well here. The coffee with rompope was also excellent. Highly recommended - I'm definitely coming back to try more items on the menu!

Refreshing, tasty, and authentic! Highly recommend this new restaurant in the Heights. It is our new favorite! From the service and atmosphere to the amazing food and drinks, we were impressed and captivated from the moment we arrived and as we reluctantly left. Try everything. It is all good. We had the pineapple mint agua fresca and horchata with the queso flamenado. Then molletes. And enchilada suizas and the enchilada variety platter. And Cafe de ollo for a perfect finish. The owner personally came and shared his experiences from his hometown of Cuyutlan that inspire his restaurant and recipes. I loved every minute and will return soon and frequently.
