Crema's Take

This beloved Ithaca institution has been a campus staple since 1977, earning its reputation with excellent bagels and an eclectic menu featuring cryptic-named sandwiches like the legendary Octopus—a local favorite worth the pilgrimage. The casual vibe welcomes everyone from quick coffee grabs to lingering breakfast meetings, though quality seems to fluctuate depending on when you visit, so it's best experienced as a nostalgic ritual rather than a consistent destination. Reasonable prices and friendly service keep regulars coming back, especially those craving that specific Cornell-adjacent comfort that only a long-standing bagel shop can provide.

Excellent bagels. Great sandwiches and soups. Large menu (except soups) with cryptic names. Been a regular in this local chain since 1977.

The quality of the food they put out has gone so wildly downhill. I used to order CTB weekly. This is an “open face, scooped, tuna salad bagel + onion & tomato”. Absolute waste of money.

Fabulous experience! Delicious, nutritious food at reasonable prices. Convenient location right near the Cornell campus. Fast, friendly service. A wide variety of both food items and beverages. A clean, neat store. Highly recommended!

We lived in Ithaca for many years but had not been back in 12 years. One stop that was essential was to Collegetown Bagels. We had to get the stellar Octopus Sandwich (super!) and an Octopus Collegetown bagels T-shirt. Great setting, helpful staff, delicious food and fast service. We will be back sooner, I hope!

CTB has consistently mediocre food but they have a wide selection and great service. I have been unimpressed with the portioning in their salads/bowls before (there is often way too much lettuce/grain base for the amount of toppings) but tried the build your own option today and was particularly disappointed by the amount of chicken. I know prices are going up but $3 for 1 ounce of chicken seems a bit extreme to me.
