Saint Germain French Cafe' And Bakery

Crema's Take
“Tucked in Buckhead Village, this French cafe strikes that perfect balance between refined pastry shop and relaxed neighborhood hangout, with visually stunning cakes and consistently delicious pastries that folks return for again and again. The outdoor seating and unhurried vibe make it ideal for lingering over a traditional coffee or matcha drink, though the chai could be bolder and you'll want to enjoy those beautiful Black Forest cakes within a day of purchase. Friendly baristas and validated parking sweeten the experience, even if the prices reflect the quality and artistry you're getting.”

Been here a few times. Located in Buckhead village and I believe they do validate parking but I usually try to find street parking. Any pastry I've ever had was delicious. The black forest is one of my favorites. This pear shaped one was a white chocolate case filled with lemon mousse. Their financier is also very moist and tasty. Although the interior is small and has limited seating there's a large outdoor seating area right outside.
Not great, but not terrible I guess. I personally wouldn't go back, but the atmosphere was nice. Here's my rating of the attached photos (these are just MY opinions): Lemon cube- 9.5/10 Wonderfully tart (along the lines of key lime pie). Lemon forward, vibrant, and silky. If this had a tart shell base or a crunchy element, it'd be a perfect 10. Flower bomb- 4/10 Beautiful presentation but a lot to be desired. The mousse itself was very mild in both flavor and sweetness, the passionfruit geleé on top had a beautifully prominent, and tangy flavor profile, but the rose filling in the center was overpoweringly floral, which ruined it. I'd love to see the apricot and passionfruit reversed with an orange blossom filling as the floral element Black forest- 5.5/10 Way too much ganache and not nearly enough cake. The drunken cherries were a nice addition, but it would have been nice to have more balance with the layers Pink Heart- 1/10 A point will remain for presentation, but I couldn't tell you what flavor this was supposed to be. It was like having 2% milk as a mousse, and the strawberry filling was frozen solid with a very funky, denatured berry aftertaste Fancy- 10/10 A chocolate lovers dream! Smooth and decadent dark chocolate mousse with a creamy pistachio filling that perfectly cuts the richness of all of that chocolate. Hazelnut dome- 8/10 Not sure of the name, but if that's close, then it definitely lives up to it. The texture of this was almost crumbly, but I could tell that it would have been nice if left at room temp for another 30 minutes. The mousse was packed with hazelnut flavor, and the addition of chocolate was very fitting, but the choux inside was an unnecessary addition Macarons (not pictured): Lemon- 10/10 Mango mimosa- 1/10 (very musty)
The cakes are visually stunning and make a great gift, but the box is too big, risking the cakes flipping over during transport. I really liked the Black Forest cake and suggest eating it within a day for the best taste, as it starts to decline after that. The strawberry and flower-shaped cakes look pretty, but the jelly filling hardens, and the cover tastes like cheesecake or white mousse, though it’s still edible. I think smaller cakes in individual boxes would be a better option, especially at $8.50 each. The server was fantastic—helpful, sweet, warm, and attentive. The restaurant’s view is breathtaking. However, parking at the library is about $7-8 per hour, and you’ll need to walk to the store.
Matcha drink was nice but the chai could use more flavor. The dark chocolate & pistachio cake was good but the raspberry cake was too sweet. Loved the outdoor seating, and the baristas were very nice and helpful. Definitely coming back for that matcha
The pastries, while I didn't like all of them, were still delicious and at least really cool looking. The workers were also good at helping me decide what macrons to buy. While it is pricey, it's 100% a fun experience, and worth the money. Absolutely loved the strawberry tart and Cuppichino
