Crema's Take

Tucked into downtown Charleston, Cafe Appalachia is a genuinely welcoming spot where the staff treats you like regulars from your first visit, pairing that warmth with an impressive menu that goes well beyond typical coffee shop fare—think creative bagel sandwiches like trout or peanut butter and banana, plus full breakfast bowls and lunch items that locals rave about. The coffee itself is smooth and unobtrusive, letting you actually taste what you're drinking, while the spacious, cozy interior makes it equally suited for a quick caffeine boost or lingering conversations with friends.

Cozy little spot with plenty of seating, kind staff, and great food. Ordered a latte and their breakfast bowl, a little pricey coming to $22 with tip. Coffee was smooth and not over sweetened, the bowl had a great flavor and was made to order with their homemade pulled pork. If you want a quiet spot to enjoy breakfast and a book in the morning this is it. The lovely lady cooking informed me that they are owned by an organization that supports women's recovery, and in May they open their courtyard for events, they had several outdoor games stored inside like giant Jenga and Connect four for when things get warmer and they open this area as well. Overall this spot was peaceful, had great food, and I imagine it would be perfect for a first date or an afternoon with friends, don't miss out on it!

In town for a visit and this cafe was just a couple blocks from our hotel. SO GREAT! Friendly staff, delicious bagels! We got the trout bagel and the peanut butter & banana bagel. Delicious. I will warn - the bagels are a bit smaller than the chain restaurants but they are the perfect texture. Taste made up for the slightly smaller size. The cafe itself is adorable. Multiple space options to include a delightful outdoor patio. Am definitely going back again before I leave town!

A gem of a cafe that supports great causes! The staff is fantastic - super friendly and welcoming. We tried a breakfast wrap, burger on naan, a couple salads, and coleslaw, and everything was excellent. Very nice fresh salads! Great indoor and outdoor seating options. Ambiance is peaceful, artsy, and a great place to spend time solo or with a group. They also have a take/leave a book library that was fun to look at. Oh, and plenty of parking nearby. Highly recommend!

Location was easy to find. As soon as you walk in the atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming. My friend and I walked up, I explained that we'd never been there before. The ladies were very nice. They explained that we could order and pick a seat then they'd bring our food to us. I ordered a berries n cream latte and a breakfast burrito. My friend got a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and flavored water. The food and drinks were really good. Staff was nice. It was a relaxing lunch spot. We'll be back. I was hungry and forgot to take a picture of our food lol.
