Crema's Take

This charming Sonoma bistro captures that perfect blend of casual and special, where you can linger over coffee and light bites in a bustling dining room or on their heated, thoughtfully decorated patio near the plaza. The real magic here is the staff's genuine anticipatory hospitality—they seem to genuinely care about your experience—paired with an atmosphere that feels authentically European without trying too hard. It's the kind of place where a simple coffee becomes part of a larger, unhurried moment, whether you're meeting a friend or starting a weekend celebration.

The ambiance is cute and bustling. It is a little loud, but gives a bistro feel. The flounder was perfection, but the flat iron steak lacked flavor and had a lot of gristle. Unsurprisingly, the place was packed on a Saturday night, and service was really slow--we were there for 30 minutes before even getting the drinks we had ordered shortly after arriving. Recommend making reservations!

First of all shout out to our waiter Noah for a level of service we haven’t experienced for a while. He was anticipatory instead of reactive. It added an extra level of pleasure for our evening. The food was well above our expectations. My partner had the chicken thigh (not pictured) that was perfectly cooked and seasoned, while my pork schnitzel was flavorful, perfectly juicy, and so huge 😆 the salad was less impressive but only in comparison to the amazing main course. The duck liver is rich but the fig jam perfectly balances it out. Noah also brought us more bread chips without being asked. I also received a card and a delicious warm cookie for my birthday (which I didn’t realize I mentioned during reservation). The atmosphere was very casual. The noise level was acceptable. There are… unique paintings all over the walls for sale that I can’t help but find a bit detracting. Overall this was such a great meal. Good service good food. I’d recommend this place to everyone!

We came here on a Friday night to kick off my birthday weekend and it could not have been a better choice. We sat on the enclosed heated patio and it was so tastefully decorated that it honestly made me feel like I was in Paris. Cozy, romantic, and just the right vibe for a special night. Our waiter greeted us warmly right away and made us feel genuinely welcome. We started with cocktails, the Fig and the Plane and the Fig Fashioned. Both were strong and stiff in the best way and really well made. We ordered the steak tartare to start. It was good but not the standout of the night. The real stars were the entrées. Our waiter highly recommended the flounder and it absolutely delivered. I ordered the steak au poivre and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Overall, it was a perfect meal and the perfect start to a beautiful birthday weekend with my beautiful family. I would happily come back again.

Went to the girl & the fig for dinner with my family. Immediately got seated and taken care of. What made our experience here 5 starts were truly the kindness and hospitality of the staff. One of the entrees came in very late but the manager was very understanding and kind and fixed the issue in no time. On top of that, the food was excellent, especially the fish. The desserts were delicious - crème brûlée was the favorite! Highly recommend coming here if you’re in downtown Sonoma.

This restaurant is conveniently located near Sonoma Plaza, and parking was relatively easy to find. We ordered the fig and arugula salad, duck confit, and wild flounder meunière, and all three dishes were excellent. The duck confit and flounder were especially tender and full of flavor. After a full day of wine tasting, we didn’t have room to try the cocktails or desserts—but that just gives us a reason to come back next time. The service and restaurant ambiance were also good. Our waitress was attentive and checked in with us regularly. One small but disappointing surprise was a so-called “staff fee” of $3.92 listed on the final check. There was no explanation provided, and I chose not to ask at the time so as not to spoil an otherwise pleasant experience. Still, it was not a welcome surprise.
