Crema's Take

Pure Imagination Cafe feels like a breath of fresh air in Rochester's coffee scene, with two generously lit rooms and east-facing windows that make lingering over a specialty drink genuinely appealing. It's become a genuine refuge for parents and remote workers alike—the spacious layout and dedicated play area mean you can actually catch up with friends without feeling rushed or anxious about your kids, and the baristas move quickly even when there's a line. There's something uncommon about a café this thoughtfully designed that still manages to feel warm and unpretentious rather than try-hard.

I went in 30min before closing time and they said that the were not making coffee at that time since it was close to closing time. This is unacceptable, is a café place I expect to be able to buy coffee until 4:55pm at least if your closing time is 5pm. I did enjoy a cookie since I was already there. The place is in general nice, the kids area seems to need a good cleaning and toys update. The celling is stunning, also loved the merch.

Nothing like your usual coffee shop. Unique. Friendly. Large. Nice lighting. Two large rooms, even! Nice big windows on the east facing entrance side. Two male and or female restrooms, and one labeled as family with a special seat for children.

I hopped over after I had a doctor's appointment as a congratulations to myself. I made sure to order ahead as this was a new place to me and didn't want to risk not finding seating (good choice) as I had just drawn several vials of blood and just wanted to rest. Came in on time. Saw that my drink and food wasn't ready. I waited another 5 minutes then got on the line to confirm they got my order. Once I got to the register, the employee had her back turned to me. So I said "excuse me" again and again and again. I started to get embaressed because despite how deafingly loud the room was, other costumers could hear me perfectly fine and were looking at the employee as well. She was talking to her co-worker and I felt she saw me but was choosing to ignore me. Another one of her co-workers walked into eyesight and immediately told the girl I was there. When she turned around, she acted like I was inconvinencing her. I just asked about my drink and she informed me I needed to wait before just turning away. I've worked years in costumer service and I've had bad days, so I let it go again despite that being hella rude. Then I asked the much nicer co-worker at the pick up station what was the estimate after waiting another 10 minutes. 30 minutes. I told her it had already been 15-20 minutes since I got here. There was nothing she could do which I understood but didn't have to be happy about it. So, after 45 minutes I got my food and left without saying thank you. And the coffee was mid and my cinnamon bun was rock hard. Yay me!

I’m a mom of twins - they just turned 3 a couple months ago. I wish I knew about this place a year ago and maybe I wouldn’t have gone so long without meeting a friend out for coffee. The play area kept them busy for the entire hour and 10 minutes that we were there. They let us stay right up until close. The coffee was good - I got one of their special flights. “Feeling Frosty” was the most delicious, dessert-like coffees I’ve ever tasted. The girls behind the counter were very sweet and quick to welcome us.

First time here, and I can confidently say that I'll be back! The venue is very spacious and inviting. There was a little bit of a line, but it moved along quickly, and the wait for my order wasn't long either. I liked that it had an area for the kids to play (even though we didn't utilize it this trip). It was a fairly busy day and someone quickly grabbed our table as we were packing up to leave but it was a Friday of a holiday weekend and spring break so I suspect that contributed to the busy foot traffic. I enjoyed the wrap that I got (the yellowstone) and the coffee (caramel macchiato). They had many food and drinks options that sounded good! I recommend checking this place out if you want coffee but want to support a smaller business over a chain coffee shop.
