Hard Hat Cafe

65 Old Broadway E, Hamden, CT

★★★★★4.5(475 Google reviews)

Crema's Take

Hard Hat Cafe captures that perfect neighborhood bar energy where nobody's rushing you out the door, making it ideal for lingering over lunch or settling in for the evening. Their wings are legitimately worth the trip, and the full breakfast and light food menu hold their own despite the pub-style setup, all at prices that won't leave your wallet empty. It's the kind of place where sports on the TV, friendly faces, and a relaxed vibe create an atmosphere that keeps people coming back for years—whether you're there for a quick bite or to stick around and soak in the local scene.

Bar like setup but we came for lunch. However food was still bar quality despite the cafe name. It was okay but not great. Tvs on and watching sports if that is your thing. High top tables or bar seating options. Service was done by bartender who did both things. If you like the sports bar vibe or are coming to hang out with a few people it may be a good option.

Relaxed atmosphere. Pub atmosphere. Seat yourself style for lunch can mean a little wait if you are not sitting in the main room. Great price points. Food was good. No rushing you in & out. Located in a industrial area. Gets busy.

Hard hat is a child hood haunt for me. When it was called the Black Stallion, food was great and the set back games were always happening. Friday nights were great times had by all, the place was always packed. Ahhh the good ole days.. Went to Hard Hat for drinks and snacks, with friends and it was good, as usual.

You want wings then you come here. Hometown bar. Small but great food. Love the atmosphere here. Music playing, people dancing. Always have the sports on. Great place to grab a beer and watch the games. Has a huge backyard too for outings, stars, fundraisers whatever you want.
