Flour Bakery + Café

Crema's Take
“Flour Bakery + Café is a beloved Boston institution where the pastries genuinely deserve the hype, especially their standout banana bread and sticky buns that keep locals and travelers coming back. The calm, quiet atmosphere makes it perfect for a solo coffee break or meeting a friend, with smooth kiosk ordering and specialty drinks like their iced matcha latte done right. While the breakfast plates are solid rather than revelatory, it's really the baked goods and the peaceful vibe that make this spot feel like a gem worth seeking out before catching your train.”

Heard a lot about this popular spot in Boston so decided to check it out today during my last day before heading to South Station nearby. Food: 4/5 the food was quite tasty! My friend and I got the Parmesan Chive Scone and the Boston Crème Cake, as well as the Raspberry Seltzer. They were all very good! I’d say that the scone was personally a little salty and the chocolate layer of the Boston crème cake too sweet for me, but that is just personal preference. The prices were reasonable and more affordable relative to other bakeries I’ve tried in Boston. Service: service was quick and attentive. Ordered right away and received the drink and food within a few minutes. Atmosphere: Very WFH vibes. It was relatively spacious and aesthetic, with lots of tables and seating. Baked goods on display by the cashier, merch for sale along a wall, and a kiosk to order from. Overall, highly recommend coming here for a casual meetup with friends or to study!
A fairly average breakfast - nothing special. Slightly overhyped in my opinion. Service was good, decent atmosphere but nothing spoke to me. I’m unsure if I regret not trying to gluten free chocolate cake because that did look good.
Coincidentally and fortunately visited. Banana Bread: I was actually not a big fan of banana, but decided to follow the waitress's recommendation and give it a try. And it not only satisfied, but even surprised me. The banana's sweetness was natural and fresh, and the bread's texture was as soft, smooth, fluffy and moist as a muffin or cupcake. At a freezing and windy winter night, what could be more comforting than holding and tearing into a piece of banana bread like this?
Had just arrived in Boston and found this gem. It was very quiet, being that it was already about 4pm. Ordered from the kiosk which was smooth and easy. Was craving an iced matcha latte and tried their honey comb matcha which was great and also ordered a simple Caesar salad.
Stopped in on my way out of the city and their sticky bun alone was worth the trip. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and great food.
