I’ve been getting the twice matcha from offbeat since summer ‘25 and it’s by far the best matcha in the sacramento area. I’m so afraid to try anything else, I have only deviated from my tried and true order once to add on a baked good. Excellent baked goods but, i choose 1 sugar treat at a time and matcha comes first. today i saw Jules back at Offbeat and it genuinely made my day. it made me realize that It’s so easy to overlook how much such a small interaction can mean, but the people who take our orders and make our drinks are often part of the very beginning of our day. There’s a quiet trust in that, trust that something as simple as a cup of matcha or coffee can comfort you, lift your mood, and set the tone for everything that follows. What makes places like Offbeat special is that, over time, those brief moments stop feeling small. A smile, remembering someone’s name, the familiarity in their eyes, the simple warmth of being recognized, it all becomes a tiny but meaningful part of your life. we all crave a sense of belonging or community even in small moments, small interactions…And when someone who has been part of that rhythm is gone, you really do feel it. So seeing Jules back felt like the return of something sweet and familiar that I didn’t realize I had missed so much. That kind of presence leaves a lasting impression. Some people are just naturally gifted at making others feel welcome, and Jules is one of them. Offbeat is lucky to have him, and so are all of us who get to walk in and leave a little brighter than we came.

This is my go-to place for matcha. I love their double matcha and iced vanilla matcha. A little on the pricier side but worth every penny in my opinion. The lines can get pretty long during peak business hours.

I get the hype now. Prob one of the best matcha spots in Sac! Definitely come early bc we went at 12pm on a Saturday and prob waited around 40 mins. Was it worth it, yes LOL. We ordered the twice matcha and twice hojicha. Can't comment on the hojicha, but the matcha was so light, so creamy, so smooth. There's a beautiful balance when sipping it vs using a straw, bc you get a taste of the sweet and creamy matcha cream and a sip of the matcha latte. I was actually quite surprised by how spacious it was. It's pretty big inside, but bc it's such a popular spot, most spots are taken. There were a lot of people studying and working, but personally I think the atmosphere is a bit be too loud to work. The staff were so friendly and fairly quick with our drinks. I also ordered a Matcha Tea (matcha + water) for a friend, and after the staff made it, they actually called me back bc they noticed it was a lil chunky and wasn't smooth enough for their liking. I was so impressed that they actually quality check their drinks despite it being so busy for them. Definitely recommend checking offbeat if you're in sac; there is a parking lot outside but it gets filled quickly, so come early if you don't wanna wait! :)

One of my favorite study spots as a student from UCD. parking is slightly limited, but its free (no time limit). - twice hojicha (10/10). never tried anywhere else so no comparison but im obsessed. hard for me to try other drinks cuz i just crave this one - twice matcha (9/10). not as matchay as i would like. the cream top definitely carries the drink ambiance: tables are slightly limited but lots of seating. line can get long but it goes quick. music is right volume. decent amount of outlets. the seats are slightly uncomfortable, but not to the point where im wanting to leave.

Finally got to come and try this place after seeing so much hype about it online. This spot is easy to miss because it’s tucked in the corner of a small strip of shops off Broadway. Parking can get a bit tricky because of this too. I came on a Friday morning and it was pretty busy. All the seating inside which is kinda limited was filled and I waited maybe 10 minutes to get to the front. The menu is very simple just like the interior. The cafe has a minimalist and slightly industrial design but it is very light - both in color and the amount of light. Theres really tall ceilings which help it feel more spacious. There were people studying/working, hanging out talking, and others filming the infamous matcha being made. This isn’t a cozy cute spot if that’s what you’re looking for. I ordered the twice matcha which everyone seemed to be getting and a cortado. The twice matcha was super good because of the matcha cream top. The cream top is velvety and rich, it is sweet but not sugary. This cream top is so so good and when it mixes with the matcha latte it creates the perfectly not too sweet but sweet drink. I’m not sure if the matcha latte by itself will be as good to me but I’ll have to try it. The cortado was good as well, strong but had a nice flavor to it. Made me want to try their coffee/espresso based drinks. I’d definitely come again to try something new.
