Crema's Take

Shamballa Cafe is a beloved neighborhood roastery where the coffee truly comes first, with knowledgeable staff who remember regulars' orders and a thoughtful approach to both espresso and pour overs. The intimate space—anchored by cozy seating and a front-row view of the roasting process—feels like a living room for the local community, made even more welcoming by fresh-baked pastries and a proprietor named Emmitt who takes genuine care with every cup. Visitors rave about the "obvious sense of community" here, where a slow pour and a slice of apple pie feel less like waiting and more like exactly where you're meant to be.

Currently enjoying a chilled coffee and delightfully dense and cakey slice of apple pie. It's my first visit to this cafe and there's an obvious sense of community. Regulars are offered their favorite mugs and the conversation is familiar and warm. The service is kind and considerate, with no "coffee snobbery" involved. Additionally, the owner/barista, Emmett, brought my order to the table for me, since I only had 1 free hand due to using a cane. Will definitely remember this spot for the next time I'm in B'ville. Thanks, Emmett!

Wife and I stopped in before running errands. Place has a great "coffee first" vibe. We each ordered wild berry scones and cappuccino with cinnamon dusting. It was a small wait for the coffees as the place seems like a new, one man operation but it was worth the wait. Great foam and delicious espresso depth. We'll be back next time we're in town!

Cute local cafe and roaster. Our first time here. Service was friendly and kind but slow. Seating includes about 4 tables inside and a sofa seating area. A couple of tables outside. Prices are very reasonable. Coffee was good. I got a cappuccino. Espresso beans used were Brazilian dark. It was good, but I generally prefer the taste of Ethiopian or a medium roast. But if you like dark, these are decent. A variety of roasts to buy from! They had a couple of muffins. Hours are 7-1 pm A really nice local cafe to chill or hang out at in the mornings.

I bought more whole bean coffee today along with a latte and a blueberry muffin. 10/10 for everything! Very friendly and helpful proprietor.

Great local roaster! Emmitt is friendly and does a great job roasting. The coffee (and carmal late) are great. I bought the "chef's suggestion" coffee beens to try. They were as advertised... Smooth and full of flavor (Honduran). If you're in Bville, great place for a good cup of coffee!
