Crema's Take

Bennu is an Austin institution that takes its coffee seriously, with a devoted following for creative signature drinks like the Don Quixote spiced mocha that showcase real skill in espresso work. Open 24/7 with a charmingly dated, old-school atmosphere that feels like stepping into a different era, it's equally suited for a quick caffeine fix or a long laptop session with excellent wifi and full breakfast options. While quality can be inconsistent, the shop's literary-themed menu and genuine commitment to craft coffee keep locals coming back.

I had a great experience at Bennu Coffee! The Don Quijote coffee was absolutely delicious — rich, flavorful, and perfectly made. I really enjoyed how unique and well-balanced it was. This is also a fantastic place for working. There are plenty of seating options, good energy, and a nice atmosphere for getting things done. I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I need a good coffee spot to focus and be productive!

Disappointing spot. My two shots of espresso over ice were non-drinkable. When I asked how to drink it she suggested pouring the ice out that she poured the two shots over. Comical. But she was dead serious lol. Iced Americano was watery. Nitro cold brew was served over a full cup of ice. Would not recommend.

Walked here yesterday from the bbq place up the street. Not a lot of people know how to make a good cup of coffee but this place does AND it’s open 24/7 which is lovely. I ordered an oatmilk iced vanilla latte. It gave like speakeasy vibes, very 2000’s.

I came here because I saw the menu and just had to try the Don Quixote. I’m a sucker for a spiced mocha and was so glad to see this here! The fact that all the drinks were literature themed just sealed the deal for me. I love that this place is 24 hours! People still need coffee in the afternoon/evening! And there is loads of seating so you can easily post up and work or hang out with a friend or just take a little break from your day.

This is a class old-school coffee shop. For some reason it almost felt like a boat with the rail stairs in the middle. The atmosphere is clearly dated but yet feels appropriate for a 24-hour caffeine stop. I got a honey cream latte, which I discovered was cold. Probably good since it was 31°c when we came in. My wife got a regular latte and finished it quickly. Really a nice place to get your java on.
