Crema's Take
“Cala Coffee is a buzzing neighborhood gem where the baristas remember your name and the energy genuinely feels like a place worth spending your time. They roast their own beans and excel at both classic espresso drinks and creative seasonal specials—their cold brew and signature creations have inspired loyal regulars to book them for weddings and declare it their favorite coffee spot in town. With ample parking, a warm homey atmosphere, and a rotating selection of house-made syrups, this is the kind of place that fills up for good reason.”

The fact that Cala is regularly full and crowded should tell you something: there's a reason for the popularity! I would often come here to work and write, and many of the baristas knew my name and order (and I imagine that's a feat given how many people they serve each day). Grateful for this space & the amazing staff!
My husband and I love our weekend Cala trips! We decided to book the mobile coffee cart for our December 2025 wedding. I would highly recommend Cala if you are looking for a fun treat for your wedding guests. We loved getting to work to make a custom menu, and having the custom cart sign to keep as a souvenir was an added bonus.
Wow! The vibe in here was really amped for a coffee shop! It was actually really refreshing to see. This is my second time trying their Java and did NOT disappoint 👏🏽 😋☕️💯❣️ Their syrup selection is different from my other "go to bc it's consistent" coffee shop which is why I tried it a second time. I had a maple spiced cinnamon latte with slightly less milk. 😋😋😋😋😋😋 my next and third drink will be their honey cinnamon😁😉🎯☕️💯 Go try their coffee!!!!
This is my favorite coffee place in 2025. This is the place you should spend your life on. Today is my last day visiting Birmingham Highly recommend the pumpkin spice yum cold potato brew Also thanks for the recommendation about lemon blueberry scone :) Thank you for making my last day in Alabama so special! 生命就应该在这样的地方被浪费:)
Very nice local coffee shop that roasts their own beans. I've been to the one downtown and decided to check the 'main branch'. This location has a nice homey vibe, has an ample amount of parking but there's street parking and some other spots that are still a manageable walking distance away. The interior is bright, airy, modern & welcoming. When I visited, the beans they were using for the espresso was their Work In Progress blend, it tasted great so I ended up getting a bag. It was easy to dial in and also tasted great when V60'd. I ended up getting some other beans (Guatemala, Colombia, Brazil & El Salvador) and they were also easy to work with and tasted great. Only thing was I don't remember them having a roast date so I had to ask the barista about that.
