Crema's Take

Tucked inside Porter Square Books, this Cambridge gem combines serious espresso craft with the unhurried charm of browsing shelves between sips—think of it as a literary refuge with exceptional drinks. Window seats come equipped with charging stations, making it an ideal spot for both focused work and lingering conversations, while their thoughtful service (staff have been known to go above and beyond for customers) and rotating selection of pastries and light food make each visit feel genuinely cared for. Whether you're after a meticulously pulled espresso or a delicate matcha, this cozy space delivers warmth and craft in equal measure.

Great cafe to do work or chat with friends. There are alot of seating area and charging stations near the window seats. The care has several options for pastries, drinks and food. The blueberry muffin 🫐 was very delicious 😋. The banana muffin 🍌 was also good but slightly on the drier side. The mozzarella pesto & tomato sandwich 🥪 was okay (like a 5/10). There are also outside seating areas. A few downsides: The inside is nice but there are alot of flies for some reason. The wifi has to be renewed every hour and isn't reliable so not the best place to be if you need connection. Also, the AC is pretty weak.

Great cafe for working with plenty of seating. I come here every so often to switch up my work space. Great service and delicious drinks! They also have a store that sells all kinds of artsy goods and books.

Delightful cafe! I am very reactive to too much caffeine, and I didn’t realize the mint tea was green mint, so I had a reaction, but the manager was SO gracious and made sure I was okay and helped me get a different tea, which was kind. The prices are very affordable ($3.50 was my total), and the space is super homey.

A cozy and charming coffee shop inside a local bookstore that enhances the pleasure of book browsing in Somerville. This spot first caught my attention while I was looking for a cup of hot chocolate in the area. The Aztec hot chocolate, which seemed to be their popular menu, was nice and smooth. On a subsequent visit, I tried their chai latte and blueberry crumble. The chai latte, mild in its spiced flavors, provided a soothing contrast to the blueberry crumble, which was pleasantly not too sweet. I also enjoyed the ambiance, which embodied the causal, hip vibe of Somerville. Overall, Cafe Zing's experience aligns well with what you might expect from a bookstore coffee shop – good enough to complement your reading experience without being a destination in itself.

Come for the coffee, stay for the cozy environment. Cafe Zing is such a nice place any time of year, to escape the cold in the winter or the heat in the summer. Porter Square books is an incredible independent book store, and a great place to spend time, so make sure to check out some books, socks or postcards when you stop by for a coffee. This is a great place to bring kids. The food itself is good as well, for breakfast I grabbed a freshly made chicken salad sandwich with grapes in it which was delicious, and super quick. Things are moderately priced, quick and delicious. The staff are always friendly. I highly recommend coming here with the intention to spend time inside.
