Milk & Honey Coffee Cafe

Crema's Take
“Milk & Honey Coffee is a thoughtful espresso-focused spot in Surfside Beach where you'll find genuinely excellent coffee alongside homemade sourdough and pastries that rival the drinks themselves. The plant-filled space strikes that rare balance of being welcoming and unhurried—staff greet you warmly but let you linger without pressure, making it equally perfect for a quick caffeine fix or a lingering breakfast with friends. Locals keep coming back for a reason: the quality is consistent, the food is actually impressive (not just an afterthought), and the whole vibe feels like the kind of place that genuinely cares about both coffee craft and hospitality.”

First time here. Coffee was great! All kinds of goodies in the bakery. I had the avocado toast which was one large piece of toasted homemade sourdough bread. Sliced avocados not smashed a poached egg cherry tomatoes & a little feta cheese. It was delicious. I thought it was a little pricey but definitely worth it. I think if it included 2 eggs it would be a little more worth the price. Everyone was nice there & there were 2 whole rooms of seating. Tables & chairs along with couches & other comfy seating. They sell t-shirts & mugs etc. you can purchase coffee beans as well to take home. I had some time in between doctor appts so I hung out there for a while. Bought some of their homemade sourdough bread to take home to my husband.
1st time here but definitely not the last one. Cute atmosphere a lot of plants. Been greeted nicely and staff wasn’t pushy while I took my time picking. I am impressed with the food that I ordered. Calming but not melancholic music. Perfect spot to bring your device and work or meet a friend for a brunch. Interior authentic, small things I would consider is warmer colors since it’s already dark or more lights on the walls. Also felt a little humid. But it was raining for few days so makes sense. If I understood correctly owner of the place came down to talk to customers so it’s not one of these places where it generates money and is left alone to survive. All together it’s a place you want to try and you will return to because it has the vibe of slow and no stress cafe with incredible brunch options.
I could have given a 5 easily as there's so much to like. The pastries and the drinks are awesome. My friend comes here often and I understand why. I wanted something low carb and high protein so I had the egg, cheese and ham on a biscuit. It was ordinary and not particularly tasty. Don't let my review discourage you from trying the restaurant as the long line attests to the popularity.
I couldn't have been happier to stumble onto this cafe today. After a week of drinking overpriced big box syrups mixed with a little bit of coffee from all of the other coffee shops on the boardwalk, this was amazing. It makes you feel like home. Their flavor profiled are great, their pastries are great, their roasts were phenomenal. The baristas were friendly and joking with everyone. It was a super refreshing end to our vacation. We will stay at this end of the beach from now on, just so we can have a good coffee shop to hit up in the morning.
Another review wherein I wish I could give 4.5 stars. As it is, the service slightly bent me toward the 4, so I went with it. I was in town for a few days and visited twice based on family recommendations. The food is excellent. In the two times I was there, I had at least a bit of the avocado toast (good, but I've had much better), plain egg/cheese on sourdough (I really enjoyed it), and several of the pastries, all of which were very good (especially the pistachio one). The decor is nice and thoughtful. But both times we went, it was incredibly busy. While the line moved quickly enough for the most part, some of the staff seemed overwhelmed by it. One of the two times we were there, it was as if we were hardly standing in front of the person taking our order. She seemed very distracted and had to repeat everything we said, even more than twice a couple of times. The two women making the drinks were actually great - fast, polite, smiling, and amenable to a bit more vanilla in my iced London Fog (which was pretty good and not the easiest of drinks to make). So while the food and atmosphere are great, the busyness doesn't make for a nice, relaxed time of sharing food and drink (or, if I had come to do so, read or study). We even tried to get a seat in the adjoining extra room, but there were none. Maybe we just happened to come at two crazy busy times.
