Opals is what Waco needed. A gorgeous, aesthetic and, delicious place. Everything from the decor, service, and food was incredible. The crab fried rice and the muscles are must try dishes. Both full of flavor and phenomenal. The crab cake and the shrimp cocktail are fabulous appetizers, but don’t compare to the muscles or fried rice. We also had the scallops and the sea bass. Both excellently done and was more than enough food for three of us.

This place was pretty amazing! We ordered the Sea Wall with oysters, shrimp, and crab claws. All of it was excellent—the shrimp was exceptionally juicy and delicious! However, the oysters had bits of shell, which is my biggest pet peeve. The Bloody Mary was good and tangy! The scallops on the half shell were cooked to perfection, but the truffle polenta was a bit too truffly (coming from someone who loves truffles). The lobster roll was tasty, but the overwhelming parsley and lemon juice flavor masked the lobster taste. The pancakes were fluffy and fantastic. The lobster Benedict was also great! I would suggest additional training for the wait staff—our waitress argued with us about what the dessert was, even though she never mentioned what it was. It's a baked Alaska. She also hardly checked in on us, and when we ordered shareable items, she only provided one plate for everyone to share. Staffing for brunch was also lacking, and having one or two more staff members would have helped because we waited a very long time for our main menu items

We went to Opal’s Oysters for brunch to celebrate my birthday, and I loved everything about the experience. I started with a cranberry mimosa, and we shared the seafood tower with mixed oysters, stone crab claws, and little neck clams. The stone crab claws were so good! super sweet and succulent, and I really loved the clams as well. My fiancé isn’t usually an oyster fan, but even he enjoyed them because of how fresh they were. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and our waiter, Yajnesh, was awesome. For food, I ordered the French omelette, my fiancé got the crab cake Benedict, my mom ordered the ceviche and the blue crab cake. We all tried each other’s dishes, and every single one was excellent! I also received a complimentary dessert for my birthday and chose the chocolate cake it was rich, dark, and incredibly smooth. Overall, I absolutely loved Opal’s and would love to come back to try dinner next time!

We’ll definitely be back. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday, and from the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Soft lighting and light music set the tone perfectly. My favorite dishes were the Crudo and the Citrus Ceviche. The oyster platter with its sauces was absolutely delicious. We also shared the sea bass, garlic fries, clam linguini, and a 14-ounce NY strip steak. The food truly meets the standards of a refined palate—fresh, well-balanced, and full of exceptional flavors. The attentive service from our server, along with the cocktails and wine that accompanied the meal, made the evening even more enjoyable. And I can’t forget to mention the Basque cheesecake with guava sauce—outstanding.

Opal’s in Waco was such a great find. The service was genuinely wonderful, and the food delivered across the board. The shaved-truffle deviled eggs were rich, earthy, and silky, and the lobster mac and cheese had that perfect balance of sweet lobster meat and creamy, decadent sauce. The lobster roll was fresh and bright—though I always welcome a little more lobster-to-roll ratio anywhere I go. The skin-on fries were crisp and perfectly salted, and they happily accommodated my request for the burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun, topped with a great fried egg and bacon. The ambience is lovely, and the patio is especially well done. A great spot all around
