Civitello's

Crema's Take
“Civitello's has mastered the art of the neighborhood gathering spot, where regulars return again and again for house-made pastries that inspire genuine devotion—their cookies and lemon ice are clearly legendary—alongside surprisingly excellent sandwiches like a grilled pastrami that arrives in generous, shareable portions. The space invites you to linger on the patio with a spumoni or settle in for a long conversation over traditional Italian-American fare, from tomato pie with roasted garlic to paninis that earn praise from even the pickiest eaters. It's the kind of place where families feel completely at home and the staff's warmth matches the quality of what's coming out of the kitchen.”

I finally had the chance to visit Civitello's, since it reopened and I was not disappointed. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly! Brought my son a BLT panini and he said it was the best BLT he ever had. I loved the lemon mascarpone cake and tomato pie. I also brought home a loaf of Italian bread and it was very good. The updates to the building are great, while maintaining the original atmosphere. I look forward to many future visits!
The cookies are amazing, our family can't stop eating them! 🤤😍 Great variety also, has everyone's favorites in the two pound box we got. We'll definitely be back again.
The desserts are always fantastic. Today I ordered a sandwich for the first time, the grilled pastrami. It was amazing, huge portions, I could have shared it. The whole experience was wonderful. The staff is so pleasant and helpful, the sandwich maker even came out of the kitchen to make sure I was getting what I wanted. If I could give six stars I would.
Lovely patio to enjoy delicious spumoni and if you can decide, a few cookies, too. The tomato pie had a crisp flaky crust that I liked with a touch of fresh garlic in the sauce. Incredible pastry.
Lemon ice unlike any other. Not too sweet, with bursts of lemon zest and such a perfect soft texture. Summertime staple. The tomato pie at lunch time is my favorite with big chunks of roasted garlic and a crisp crust. Classic Schenectady. Update! Same delicious favorites, with an awesome new patio. Can't wait to go back.
