Phi Thai
1388 Daisy Ave, Long Beach, CA
Crema's Take
“This Long Beach spot serves up authentic Thai curries that hit the mark on flavor and spice levels, with a particular strength in vegan options that locals rave about. While service can be inconsistent and waits unpredictable, the standout dishes—green curry, rich Penang variations, and their mango sticky rice—keep people coming back, making it worth a visit if you're patient and in the mood for genuinely tasty Thai comfort food. It's a casual, family-friendly neighborhood spot that shines brightest when the kitchen is on point.”

I really wanted to like Thai Phi, but this was a huge letdown. Waited almost 40 minutes for my food, which is already wild, but the real disappointment was the veggie Penang curry. It was basically a bowl of bland soup with maybe 13 pieces of vegetables total. No flavor, no richness, no sauce just watery and sad. For that long of a wait, I expected something way better. The only redeeming part of the experience was the owner or manager calling me back after I rang him 6 times to apologize for the wait, which I appreciated. But damn, if you’re going to make people wait that long, at least tell your kitchen to add some flavor, more veggies, or throw in some extra veggie rolls or something. This was not it.if it’s gonna be cheap be fast
Update: I got my money reimbursed. No matter how you try to rationalize your menu items and how they're made... point is: the food was awful. Very horrible experience. I ordered chicken chow mein.... what I received was burnt Ramen noodles that smelled like burnt coffee upon opening the container. This is not chow mein. Look for a better place to eat, folks..
I ordered the green curry (with fish balls and medium spicy) and spring rolls with peanut sauce on the side. The curry was super tasty and just the right amount of spicy as indicated in the menu and the spring rolls were really good too: Super easy to eat and not greasy. The order took a little while, but the wait was absolutely worth it and my stomach is happy lol
This is the best vegan curry I've had it's so good. The mango sticky rice was also amazing. I can't wait to go back and try the other vegan options. They also have a great selection for non vegans so it's perfect for ordering in a group.
I really liked my experience here. They have Mango Stick Rice, which I love. The food was great and flavorful, arranged nicely and cleanly, and packed into my to-go bag in a clean, neat manner. I'll definitely order again!
