Crema's Take

Origen is a serene hidden gem where coffee excellence meets zen garden tranquility—their extensive pour over menu showcases single origins from Mexico, Ecuador, and Bolivia, expertly guided by passionate barista Ruben. Sipping specialty coffee by a koi pond with the sound of waterfalls and creek water creates an unhurried, meditative experience that elevates each cup, and their housemade pastries (arrive early, they sell out) complete the ritual.

Great specialty coffee with a barista that never fails. This is a coffee cart with outdoor seating and a koi pond. The pourovers are worth the wait. They seem to sell out of pastries by lunch.

What a hidden gem! The pour over menu is extensive and Ruben will help you chose if your not sure. The turkey chili was delicious. Sat by the koi pond, listened to the water, and enjoyed every sip. Thank you for the experience 🙏 I'll be back.

This is a review for the coffee snobs (like me). I tasted coffees from Mexico, Ecuador and Bolivia today brewed by a passionate artisan and it enlivened my entire day. At first blush you assume maybe you’re walking into the regular office park coffee shop fueled by beans from Costco. Do not be fooled. This is a serious and dedicated operation. I peppered the gentleman there about his opinion on roasting and processing methods and was treated to what felt like a PhD level reply together with an impromptu tasting of what may be the three best pour overs I’ve ever experienced. I had the washed Java beans from Finca Chuquiago in Bolivia, the natural Typica beans from Finca Huehuetepan in Veracruz México and the washed Pacamara beans from Finca La Josefina in Ecuador. What an experience. I purchased a bag of the Typica beans and am sipping now as I write this review. He said, “I do this because I love it - I can see no other way.” What a gift.

Wow! What a beautiful little hidden away spot to relax and have delicious coffee and snacks. Ponds fed by a creek and waterfalls to make lovely sounds for the Zen garden. Turtles sunning on the rocks, big healthy koi, happy birds splashing in the falls, and even a duck today peacefully swimming in one of the ponds. Origens Coffee is a tiny little structure with lots of good options. Variety of exceptional coffees and coffee drinks (including iced). Fast friendly helpful service with a warm smile. You can also buy from a selection of fresh roasted coffee beans. My husband had a pour over coffee (rich and smooth, full of great toasted flavors), I tried a traditional latte (variety of milk options available). Great espresso- strong, complex, smooth, perfect balance to the milk for a perfect latte. He had the chorizo breakfast burrito (which he said was “ok”), I tried a waffle pastry which was good. Come try this place, you’ll be so glad you did. You leave feeling like you’ve had a mini-vacation and are refreshed inside and out.

Found the best pour over coffee in San Diego! Ruben is doing right with diverse single origins, showcasing different regions and acidity. If you love GOOD coffee, definitely go to Origen. Beautiful Koi pond also nestled between corporate offices.
