Astoria Pastry Shop
541 Monroe St, Detroit, MI
Crema's Take
“Tucked into Detroit's historic Greektown, this beloved pastry shop is a stunning visual feast that draws crowds with its impressive variety of fresh-baked goods, from buttery French macaroons to traditional baklava, paired with an equally impressive roster of ice cream flavors. The spacious, welcoming atmosphere makes it perfect for lingering over a traditional coffee while browsing the pastry cases, and the genuinely patient staff seem to genuinely enjoy helping you navigate the mouthwatering options. Fair warning: consistency can be hit-or-miss, and the surrounding construction doesn't help access, but when the pastries are fresh, this spot truly shines as a warm, family-friendly gathering place.”

This pastry shop is absolutely beautiful! The amount of pastries available and the variety of tasty ice cream flavors available are amazing! We got a mini carrot cake, apple turnover, key lime cheesecake, and a delicious chocolate chunk cookie. I also was able to taste the banana pudding ice cream... it was so tasty! Thank you to the young woman who helped us with our order, she was delightful.
Not super impressed. Everything tasted days old and super dry. The frosting was the only thing fresh. The baklava was soggy and there was minimal crunch. The staff was very kind and helpful.
This place offers so many mouth watering options! The staff was patient and nice while we were looking at all the options and answered any questions we had. We ordered the French macaroons (strawberry and Nutella), chocolate cannoli, Baklava, and an eclair. Everything was incredible!
First of all, we've never been to this place before ever. We never even knew it existed. This place is probably the best setup and welcoming pastry shop I've ever been to! They have everything from pies to full size cakes to designer decorative cakes to every type of cheesecake/indian/Arabic pastry you can think of. I mean they have everything and the interior design of the place is immaculate! Absolutely loved it. The service was amazing and the ladies had smiles and they even made a handle for the bag that they gave us so that it was easily carried throughout our trip around downtown Detroit. My husband and I got caramel turtle bars I guess you can say on sticks and they were very decently sized He also got a pastry that I know many Arabic people to eat for desserts and it was nice and fluffy and warm and had a nice glaze on it. My older son got a black and white cookie which kind of tastes like gingerbread but it's soft with white icing on one side and black icing on the other side and then my youngest son got a gingerbread cookie and he loved it. I highly recommend this pastry shop to anyone in the downtown Detroit area It's right across from greektown casino and currently there is construction in that area so you have to go through greektown to get to it. I will be returning to this place! Thank you very much.
It's a bummer that there's so much construction in downtown Detroit. The Astoria Pastry Shop is on a ripped up road with small sidewalks in Greektown. It'll be nice when its done but made it hard to get around. The pasty shop itself was excellent. We got white chocolate with cherry cake, almond fingers, chocolate chip cookie, cinnamon roll, and a lemon bar. I could have tried one of everything though. Affordable and friendly.
