Crema's Take
“Nomlas Cafe is a genuine neighborhood gem that stands out as Sacramento's only independent coffee destination, serving carefully sourced Jamaica Blue Mountain beans that shine in both classic espresso drinks and creative house specials like their beloved Island Gold Latte. The rich, balanced espresso and welcoming staff create a cozy, unhurried atmosphere that keeps regulars coming back—plus their flaky beef patties make it the kind of place worth lingering in. It's the rare spot where excellent coffee meets real community warmth.”

Excellent beans and friendly service! The espresso is rich and flavorful with just the right acidity to brighten up the pallet without being overly tart. Balanced and very easy drinking while still managing boldness. Also tried the gold latte, so can say the sweetened drinks are also very good. Unique local flavor worth checking out.
The Island Gold Latte was delicious and the gal working there was so sweet and helpful. Cozy atmosphere. Would go back!
Nomlas Cafe is an amazing gem, and the only non-chain coffee place in the area. The beans are from Jamaica, and the coffee is truly excellent. The dark chocolate mocha was rich and smooth. The lattes were great. But Nomlas Cafe is more than just a coffee shop. There is a community room set up for music, games and activities. Nomlas hosts weekly book clubs, poetry readings, karaoke and craft activities in an inviting and comfortable space. This place is special. Go.
The coffee was strong and tasty! Their beef patties were sooooo good and the crust was so flaky. ☺️ It was a unique hole in the wall coffee place.
A Hidden Gem with Deep Roots - Nomlas Cafe Tucked away on Julliard Drive in Sacramento, Nomlas Cafe is more than just a coffee shop-it's a community institution. Serving Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee for nearly 30 years, it's easy to see why this place has such staying power: the drinks are exceptional, the food is flavorful, and the vibe is unmatched. I visited with my wife, and we were both blown away by our drinks. I had the blended dark chocolate mocha, and she tried the coconut cold brew. After just one sip, we knew we'd be coming back the very next day-and we did. We also grabbed one Jamaican beef patty on that first visit... big mistake. It was so crispy, faky, and packed with flavor that we couldn't stop thinking about it. Natugally, we came back the next day and ordered four. The cafe itself has a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere. While waiting for our coffee, I noticed a schedule of events posted on the wall. It's clear that Nomlas isn't just a place to grab a drink-it's a community hub, regularly hosting events and serving as a gathering space. We love supporting places that give back and create space for connection. Honestly, the only downside is that we don't live closer. If we did, this would easily be our go-to spot. Whether you're a coffee enthusiast, a lover of Caribbean flavors, or just someone looking for a place with real heart, Nomlas Cafe is a must-visit.
