Crema's Take

Teaspoon Carlsbad is a vibrant, creativity-focused spot where you can customize colorful specialty drinks like their distinctive ube and grasshopper (cucumber) tea while enjoying board games and claw machines during your visit. The friendly, attentive staff keeps things running smoothly, and the generous indoor and outdoor seating makes it an ideal place to linger with friends or family over drinks that taste as good as they look.

Amazing, pretty, and customisable drinks, friendly staff, lots of board games to play if you’re waiting for your order, and claw machines where you can try your luck. 10/10, though most drinks are pretty sweet, but that can be changed while ordering. (Photo provided of their caramel cream)

I love this chain and went all the time in San Jose when I used to live nearby, but this location is really hit and miss. I always get Thai tea, but today was basically just milk. Only two other people inside when I went so it wasn’t super busy. If it were busy I could understand not the best quality (not an excuse but could understand). A bit disappointing. I have gotten great drinks before so I will try one more time. If this is too much of a pattern, I will have to try other local spots.

They have different menu than other boba tea chains. We ordered ube, grasshopper (cucumber flavor) and Thai tea. All taste great and look colorful. Many seatings inside and outside. Friendly service.

The Grand Opening was a little bit chaotic because people were cutting in line to be in the first 100, people were letting their friends of 4-8 people join late, and having their 6 month old babies count (even though they can't drink boba or use the glass bottle, lol), but in the end the tea was really good and the owner was very nice. I waited in line for about 3 hours to get my tea, but it was very good, and there were still seats inside! I will definitely be back! They have free wifi, too.
