Crema's Take
“Ranger Chocolate is a bean-to-bar chocolate destination where the aroma hits you the moment you walk in, and their decadent hot chocolates—particularly the Gianduja made with Willamette Valley hazelnuts and Haitian cacao—live up to the hype. Beyond the exceptional chocolate craft, there's a genuine warmth to the place that keeps people coming back, whether you're settling in for a slow afternoon, meeting a friend, or bringing the whole family to experience something truly special.”

Smelled the chocolate when I walked in the building and I’ll just say the hot chocolate isn’t good…. It’s INCREDIBLE. Look at this masterpiece. Yes you would like it, yes the area is cute, yes the staff is amazing.
I love Ranger! The Gianduja Hot Chocolate is delicious and has such a good depth of flavor with the nuttiness. Their classic hot chocolate is also excellent and a great option if the want a classic but elevated version of hot chocolate. The cookies are also a great pairing to dip into your drink! Staff is always wonderful, informative, and offer samples. My favorite place for hot chocolate and chocolate.
Ranger Chocolate is extraordinary (because) in addition to their excellent quality chocolate, my experience with the culture of this company was refreshing. Genuine care and time-sensitive effort from businesses is increasingly rare... Ranger's communication and results toward my need of expedited shipping was fantastic, especially given the rush of the holidays. I am impressed and grateful. **And - Ranger Turtles are the BEST in the Known Universe!
I tried the Gianduja Hot Chocolate (made with Willamette Valley hazelnuts, Haitian cacao, vanilla, and sea salt). The flavor wasn’t quite what I was expecting, and it didn’t have the rich, thick texture I usually associate with something like Spanish churros con chocolate. The staff offered samples, which was nice — it might be even more convenient in the future if the samples were placed on the counter for customers to self-serve.
We popped in the new location yesterday for the first time and it was an amazing experience for me, but really my two kiddos! I should say, this is hands down the best bean to bar chocolate I've had in Portland. But the vibe and the people are even better! George took the time to chat with my 9 and 7 year old, talking them through new and different ideas they've had which made their day! 24 hours later they're already asking when we get to go back (we bought plenty of chocolate to last more than a day haha!). The crew is awesome, seeing the facility is so fun, and can't go wrong with the chocolate! We'll definitely be frequenting the new spot!
