Crema's Take

This Honolulu institution has mastered the art of the hybrid café-restaurant, seamlessly blending a bustling coffee counter with a more relaxed wine bar side where you can linger over braised beef loco mules or beautifully crafted island lattes alongside acai bowls and macadamia milkshakes. The energy here rewards strategy—grab your specialty drink and pastry ahead via app if you're in a rush, or claim a spot on the wine bar side if you want to settle in with attentive service and a full breakfast spread. It's genuinely beloved by locals and visitors alike, though timing matters; this is the kind of place that draws lines, but also knows how to move them.

If you’re looking to just pick up coffee, a smoothie, or an acai bowl and you want to eat it elsewhere then I highly recommend just ordering ahead on the app. I wanted to run Kalakaua Ave in the morning so I ran down and on my way back I placed my order and it was ready when I arrived (15-20 min) and it was such an easy pick up. You surpass the line and go inside and tell them you are picking up, my drink was ready on the counter and I just told the person working and they handed me my acai bowl. There’s some hidden seating outside in front of their island vintage wine bar. There’s plenty of seating outside the Royal Hawaiian mall to sit and just enjoy the space. They have food and dining if you wish to enjoy your meal there, it just takes a while. There’s not direct parking but mall and hotel parking nearby. But right in the center of the Waikiki strip. My acai bowl was nice and fresh, I got the island latte and less sweet which I enjoyed hot. But it is a bit pricey like everything else for both it was over $20. But I always enjoy a nice acai bowl and Hawaiian flavored coffee while visiting Waikiki and people watch.

We went for lunch and got seated quickly at the wine bar side. Kai was our waitress and she was super nice and went to the kitchen to ask questions for me multiple times. I was able to get the chicken panini and sub in the gluten free vegan bread and swap in a vegan aioli (not vegan, just gluten and egg intollerant) and the food was delicious! Kai also took note of my intollerances and wrote it down with our order. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. Very clean. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

This place is highly recommended on all social media platforms so I couldn't deny going. I dined in on the wine bar side because that line on the coffee side was long. I enjoyed the braised beef loco moco, the salad and and iced chai latte with an espresso shot. The service was great. The atmosphere was good it wasn't loud. And the food/drinks were delicious. I see why it's highly recommended.

The açaí bowl was very refreshing and delicious. My island latte was also wonderful, had a very smooth finish. It took so long for food to be prepared, though. And if you order for here you have to pick up your own food. Prices were also on the high end. Located upstairs in a mall area, you cannot miss it. There were so many menu items I had to squint! My mom enjoyed her avocado toast.

Their açaí bowls and milkshakes (both macadamia and taro) are very good! I recommend ordering online to avoid the gigantic line. I’ve only tried two of their plated dishes, and they weren’t great. I especially recommend against ordering the Sukiyaki Rice 😅 The beef didn’t taste fresh, the recipe was off, and I could even taste raw soy sauce in the background.
