Tamper Specialty Coffee
111 Colony Crossing Way, Madison, MS
Crema's Take
“Tamper has mastered the art of the efficient specialty coffee experience, moving customers through the line with impressive speed while still delivering thoughtfully crafted drinks like velvety oat-milk lattes anchored by Ethiopian beans. The cozy, inviting atmosphere feels like a breath of exhale the moment you walk in, making it equally suited for a quick espresso or a lingering afternoon with your laptop, and their world-class coffee knowledge paired with a diverse global menu has earned it a loyal following even from those willing to drive from Brandon just to return. It's the kind of place that manages to feel both polished and genuinely welcoming—less intimidating specialty coffee shrine and more like the best coffee shop your neighborhood didn't know it needed.”

Line moved with surprising authority. Before I could settle in, I was up. Ordered a large velvet-steamed oat-milk latte with Ethiopian beans; an extra shot for a more powerful bang. The barista worked the wand low and slow, steady pressure, no scorching; turning the oat milk silky and thick. Their latte, a strong creamy thrust, melting inside with a lingering warmth; leaving me completely satisfied and energized with a gushing pop for the ride of the day.
This place is a DELIGHT. Moved back to the area in October and have been routinely making the drive from Brandon to Madison to get coffee from this shop ever since. There is one particular barista working there on the reg and they must be in flow state when making drinks because each one is exquisite in taste and presentation every single time. Such a treat!!
Enjoyable coffee shop experience. Very unique style. Also they have a very diverse around the world menu. The coffee was good. A little more explanation on the coffee types they offer would have been beneficial but we didn’t ask either!
I stopped by this coffee shop late on a Friday evening, and it instantly became a new favorite. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting — the kind of place where you feel yourself exhale the minute you walk in. I ordered an Oatly Vanilla Latte and an apple danish, and both were incredible. The latte was beautiful in presentation. The taste was smooth and balanced. The apple danish was warm and flaky — easily one of the best pastries I’ve had in a while. Everything about this place feels thoughtful. It’s the perfect spot to work, relax, or just treat yourself to something delicious. I’ll definitely be back!
Stopped in to this new coffee shop — one of the best experiences in terms of coffee, knowledge, options, and aesthetics I’ve ever had in Jackson/Madison area. This shop reminds me of the shops that I frequented in London. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Helped make recommendation based on what flavor profile I was looking for. Also! Finally an upscale coffee place that has ample seating! And that it is all aesthetically pleasing. Pastries are from renowned Jackson patisserie La Brioche — which are very good! Only negative to the whole experience was being given a plastic fork instead of a metal one to eat my pastry. It felt just like it didn’t match the rest of the experience. Moving to metal forks for the in house experience would be a good move to make the whole vibe.
