I was craving some good sweet potato fries, and I remembered that Birdie Bistro serves high-quality food. My best friend and I went on a Saturday afternoon, around 1:30 pm, and let me say, it was quite busy. We didn't have much hope of getting a fast sitting; however, the nice hostess was able to find us a two-person table on the balcony of the second floor. The view from the second floor: nice. My best, and I got to have the chance to people watch while conversing and waiting for our food to arrive. Our server, the most enthusiastic person ever, gave us very good service by providing us with different options of drinks, offering additional recommendations for our food, and his humor gave us a nice waiter and customer interaction experience. I got the sourdough turkey and avocado sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries, and my best friend got chicken alfredo with a side of garlic bread. Although we arrived during their considered busy rush hours of the restaurants, what didn't work out for me was that only our waiter and another waiter were assigned to assist on the second floor. At times, no waiter would be on the second floor, or one waiter would be catching up to all the tables' assistance. I understand the waiter's hustle and commitment to giving the customers the best experience! What worked out best for me is the location. The restaurant is a few streets away from Downtown and there are plenty of parking spaces to use while visiting the restaurant. There are plenty of walkable areas around the restaurant with some small businesses close to it as well. Overall, I would really recommend this place to try out for brunch-related gatherings. The staff are very friendly, the food is really good with a lot of options to choose from, and the interior and exterior design of the restaurant is very pretty.
I’m not from McAllen and came across this spot online, and wow—I’m so glad I did! I wish I had taken a picture of my lechero coffee, but it was so good I completely forgot—LOL! I ordered the steak and eggs (medium) with poached eggs and a side of hollandaise, and oh my gosh… everything was amazing. The flavors were spot-on, the potatoes had this uniquely delicious taste, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The service was outstanding—my server just knew exactly what I needed today. I even tried the house tea, and he kindly made it iced for me. I sat outside, and the weather was perfect for enjoying my breakfast and a FaceTime call with my boyfriend while visiting from out of town. Such a great experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back!
Super cute and homie place. Food is good and good portion. Waiter was good but when we went up to the counter to pay the lady that attended us was pretty rude. Not sure if she was having a bad day. But other than that it was good.
This little gem located in downtown McAllen off of Main Street is an excellent choice for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Cozy vibe with plenty of seating inside and out. Nice choices on the menu and their coffee is 🤌🏼excellent. Every dish we ordered was delicious, cooked to order, and well presented . Wait staff was very attentive. British tea shop decor is a nice touch.
We had a fun experience at Birdie Bistro. A lot of atmosphere thanks to their decorations. Service was great, very friendly staff. The food was good, the only negative feedback is that I wish the coffee drinks tasted more like coffee, my mocha latte tasted like hot cocoa, it didn’t taste bad I just couldn’t taste the coffee. We really enjoyed eating here, recommend for dates, friends/family brunches
