LUX Max Annex
16220 N Scottsdale Rd #280, Scottsdale, AZ
Crema's Take
“Tucked away in a Scottsdale office park with surprisingly little fanfare, LUX Max Annex rewards those who find it with genuinely excellent espresso drinks and a staff (especially Troy) that actually cares about making your visit memorable. The brightly-reviewed pastries—both sweet and savory—are substantial enough to justify stocking up, and the cozy indoor-outdoor seating transforms this hidden gem into the kind of quiet refuge that keeps coffee snobs and casual visitors equally devoted.”

This place is a little tricky to find at first because it’s tucked into an office park, and there’s not much signage to guide you. Honestly, the only way you know you’re in the right spot is the line of people out front. The good news is the line moves fast, so don’t let it scare you off. Once inside, the pastries look incredible, and the homemade chai tea was fantastic—easily the highlight of my visit. Service was friendly and efficient, even with the steady crowd. The interior has a very trendy, modern vibe, which normally isn’t my thing, but the overall experience won me over. Quick line, great drinks, great pastries—definitely worth the stop.
My man, Troy, is the BEST! I love it when coffee shops have staff that actually enjoys their job, and enjoys the customers. People like Troy will keep me coming back. Lux's baked goods are out of this world, and the large variety they have means there is something for everyone! I especially love that they have pastries and baked goods you don't find anywhere else, and I know they're made from scratch. Love. Love. Love. With all the love, there are two areas that I think they could tinker with. I wish they also had some unique lattes to go along with their unique pastries. (It would also be nice if they had an option for breve drinks). And the second thing would be seating. They've changed it a couple times, but right now it is rather awkward. The long row of chairs against the wall isn't that inviting (or useable for a group), and the long row of tables in the middle isn't ideal. If you want to go to coffee to visit with friends, you don't want to do that at a communal table. Feels more like a library that way. I also think the large columns in the entry take up a lot of useable space, making the room feel cluttered. THAT SAID - I will come back again, and again, and again!!
I’m a total coffee shop snob, and this place was absolutely fantastic. I got a breve latte and it was on point. Not too dark not too light. Great atmosphere with speedy service too. The prices are typical like most coffee shops. Next time, maybe we will try some food. I highly recommend this hidden gem.
Their espresso drinks and beans are some of our favorites. The pastries, both savory and sweet, are worth stocking up on. My favorite coffee shop in the area.
Delicious and tasteful coffee. Cute location and lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. I love this spot as it’s always a cute little hide away from normal life. When staying in town it’s a bit of a walk from the area I’m at, but worth the journey. They play a bit of louder music so if you’re trying to work from home and need a quiet environment I’d just suggest sitting outside. Their WiFi is fast and free. Aside from the anticipated tasteful coffee they also offer teas, sodas, and some alcoholic beverages even. Most notable is their bakery - brownies, croissants, bars, danishes, cookies, breakfast items and sandwiches. SO amazing. Probably the best brownie I’ve ever had. My recommendation is a honey lavender latte iced, and the m&m brownie. Definitely come check this place out! The pricing is anticipated for Scottsdale about $6 for a medium coffee but goes up as you make additions to it. Located in a building with lots of parking and pink decor highlighting the entrance.
