Sage Coffee and Books
1709 19th Ave, Gulfport, MS
Crema's Take
“Sage Coffee and Books is a wonderfully chaotic treasure trove housed in an old Gulfport home where thousands of books—from rare 19th-century editions to contemporary releases—live alongside expertly crafted coffee and the salty Gulf breeze. The owner Laura is a genuine book whisperer with encyclopedic knowledge of her inventory, creating an atmosphere that's equal parts literary sanctuary and cozy neighborhood gathering spot, perfect for lingering over a cup while losing yourself in the stacks. Whether you're a writer seeking inspiration, a book collector on the hunt, or simply someone who craves the particular magic of old paper and espresso, this place delivers an experience that feels authentically curated rather than Instagram-polished.”

This is a must visit. I just love the organized chaos of books everywhere you look. The lady is amazing and friendly. She has everything from New all the way to the 19th century.
If you have some time to wander and if you like the smell of old books and the sea, this is a lovely place the spend an afternoon. The proprietess has a shockingly good grasp of her inventory and if you ask her for a book she can guide you right to the correct section and perhaps even recommend something similar. A fantastic find for bibliophiles in Mississippi!
Went on a short spring break trip to the coast this past week and stopped by Sage Books because we found it online. Such an awesome and personable experience!!!!!! The owner was absolutely wonderful, so kind and gave us great prices on old medical textbooks that she could’ve sold to us for much higher. I don’t live in the area, but she told us she offers store credit for bringing in books!!!! Wish we lived closer, I would do all my book shopping here!!! She has new and old books as well as DVDs, VHS tapes (my favorite), records, vintage books and textbooks, all sorts of knick knacks, and so much more. There was a cat on the porch swing also which I had to stop and love on on the way in and on the way out!!! Will definitely be going back next time I’m on the coast!!!!
I went to a writer's conference at University of Southern Mississippi in Gulfport and left with a hunger for books: "Google, where's a used bookstore near me?" Google Maps gave me several suggestions but the one that looked the most promising was Sage Coffee and Books in Gulfport. There are books everywhere in a charming old house - on the floor, on the shelves, on the front porch - and there are treasures to be found! The selections range from first editions to dimestore paperbacks and everything in between. I was on the hunt for vintage cookbooks and found everything I wanted, and more. I left with a big bag full of books and the knowledge that I would be back, again and again, whenever I happen to be in Mississippi. The owner was lovely, knowledgeable and welcoming, and although I didn't have time for coffee, next time I'll plan better! Make this a destination if you are a booklover anywhere on the Mississippi coast.
A used book store in an old house. So many books to chose from and the owner Laura was so friendly. She knew where every book was. I ended up getting a few books to add to my collection. If you are looking for a book that’s inexpensive this is the place.
