Crema's Take

This cozy spot near GW Campus brilliantly blends coffee culture with an adjacent bookstore and authentic Ethiopian cuisine, making it feel more like a gathering place for the neighborhood than just another cafe. The genuinely warm staff and affordable prices create an inviting atmosphere where you can linger over a cup, grab a flaky pastry, or settle in for traditional Ethiopian comfort food that locals rave about. Whether you're laptop-working for an afternoon or meeting friends on the tree-lined outdoor seating, Cup'a Cup'a rewards you with the kind of authentic neighborhood charm that's increasingly rare in DC.

Absolute gem of a cafe and bookstore. Far exceeds any other cheap casual options in an area plagued by slop bowls. Very friendly staff as well.

Normally their coffee is really good but the last time I went there it tasted burnt. Also their croissant was stale 😢

Great little coffee shop near GW Campus. Very affordable and the owner is so nice and friendly. Good seating outside and the neighboring bookstore is cool too? It's my favorite place to go since I started school.

I went to Cup'a Cup'a Cafe recently for the veggie combo, but unfortunately, I was not as impressed with the food. The salad was decently seasoned, and the warmed up beets were pretty good. However, I was a little disappointed to find hairs in my food, and the quinoa underneath was a bit off-putting. The service was good, however, so I will give them points for that. I might come back, but probably just for the coffee. It's nice to have a bookstore nearby the store, as it adds to the ambience.
