Crema's Take
“Nestled near a charming neighborhood park in Houston, DUO is a rare find that seamlessly blends specialty coffee culture with wellness—they've got an in-house pilates studio with thoughtful instructors, generous portions of creative breakfast fare, and baristas who genuinely care about making you feel welcome. The space feels lived-in and unhurried, perfect whether you're settling in with your laptop for hours, catching up with friends, or fueling up before class, and their drink menu ventures beyond the expected with inventive offerings like their dreamsicle matcha.”

This coffee shop has everything you could want- great food/coffee, great atmosphere (love the little park near by), great work space, PILATES??!, and most importantly, the great, friendly people. I happened to chat it up with the manager (Mikayla I believe) about coffee and her and everyone else was such a delight. The drip coffee (Ana sora) was one of the best drips I have had. I go to coffee shops a lot- this is HIGH on my list to show my friends who come to visit.
I took Ayshe’s strength class this morning. It was great! I am 8 months pregnant and she gave me all the necessary modifications to make sure the class was safe for me and her playlist was SO GOOD! This was also the first time an instructor introduced herself to me and asked my name! The studio itself and bathrooms were pristine and the coffee bar staff was extremely friendly. I got the dreamsicle matcha latte and was delicious! 10/10 recommend this location/instructor. It was a great way to start my Sunday!
I’ve had several menu items here and enjoyed every one. Portion sizes are generous—I usually have to share with a friend or take half my food home. The avocado toast is delicious, as are the smoked salmon toast and the charcuterie. I also love the little protein boxes for an after class recovery snack. Oh I almost forgot the juices. Yum. I love it all. The coffee and full bar are also a hit. I love the time and attention they put into my simple little flat white, but I also love the more whimsical drinks, such as the pretty blue birthday iced latte they recently had on the menu! While I enjoy all my little pre and post workout treats, the Duo classes really stand out. They offer a welcome change to my classical Pilates practice (but don’t worry, they also have a few Classical experts on staff!). I have appreciated the style of every instructor I’ve had at Duo—Christina, my first instructor who introduced me to scooters and always finds a new way to make my legs shake, Reem (my quads are sore from yesterday’s class), Sergio (try him for both Strength and for Breath and Motion to see the full range of his instructor talent), Chloe (goals!), and two new (to me) instructors I had this evening, Mimi and Claudia, who led a great class and compiled the best Galentine’s playlist. There’s enough options on the workout menu that you can even come here for your rest days for one of their slower paced classes. Ice cold eucalyptus towels offered on the way out of class are the best. Every staff member I’ve encountered has been pleasant and helpful, and it’s nice to chat with them and Duo patrons in between classes if you’re in the mood to socialize. They hold a lot of events, so if you’re looking for a fitness community, Duo could be a good fit for you. Did I mention free garage parking (they validate) and a shower for early morning workouts on your way to the office? Essential for suburbanites who want to sneak in a workout before heading to work in the city. Everything you need to build strength and to recover is all under one roof here. Highly recommend!
Breakfast taco was pretty mid tbh, BUT the service and environment were great. The baristas working are so sweet and receptionist for the Pilates class I went to was very accommodating! I took Bill’s 11:45AM class and he’s an awesome instructor, good at vocalizing and very cognizant of his students. A cute vibe + cold essential oil towels for the end. I had their golden chai (which they sell in house) and it was delish (not too much sugar for a health coach ;)) I do recommend parking in the garage so they can voucher!
I got the dreamsicle matcha! The place is pretty nice, good street parking, large space, fast service. At first I didn’t like the taste, didnt taste like anything. After a bit through it tasted better! Creamy, flavorful, and good balance of sweet, matcha, and milk. I recommend and would come back!
