Crema's Take

Alpine Modern Cafe is a beloved Boulder spot that draws repeat visitors with its thoughtfully crafted espresso drinks and creative seasonal offerings like their praised maple latte, plus a warm, peaceful atmosphere that feels equally suited for lingering solo or meeting friends. While their breakfast menu shows real ambition with items like pesto aioli and brioche sandwiches, execution can be inconsistent, though the central location and inviting vibe keep locals coming back. It's the kind of cafe where you'll want to settle in with your laptop for a while, anchored by genuinely good coffee that's clearly made with care.

Such a cute coffee shop in Boulder!! I was visiting from out of town and wanted to try some local cafes and I ended up going to Alpine like three times it was so good! Coffee is yummy with lots of options and food was also amazing!! If you are local or just visiting, you have to stop in and check it out!

I came here today, and had an amazing maple latte and Caprese sandwich. However, the item I actually wanted was the breakfast sandwich; served with eggs, arugula, pesto aioli, and cheese on a brioche bun. Easy, right? I received it to find two (2) whole soft boiled eggs on the sandwich. I’ve included a diagram below since I forgot to take a photo. I cut into the eggs thinking “maybe they’re poached”. They were not poached. Hard yolk, boiled eggs, ready to be deviled and put on a platter. I took it back to the counter, gagging. Saying “I can’t eat this? Why are there soft boiled eggs on my sandwich?” The gal at the counter said “all of our eggs are soft or hard boiled” to which I replied, “FOR SANDWICHES?! It really should say that on the menu”. She agreed. I ended up getting my replacement sandwich comped which I’m very thankful for. But SOFT BOILED EGGS? On a SANDWICH? No other options?! Overall, would return but I know now breakfast is not an option.

I really wanted to love this spot, but unfortunately the food missed the mark for us. I ordered the egg, bacon, and avo toast — simple enough — but the toast was burnt and the “soft-boiled” egg was fully hard-boiled. My husband had the steak and horseradish salad and subbed gluten-free bread. I do wish more restaurants were thoughtful about GF options — there’s usually an upcharge, and the portions tend to be smaller because the bread is smaller. It just feels frustrating to pay more and receive less overall. That said, the staff was wonderful — super friendly and attentive. And I’ve always enjoyed grabbing coffee and sitting outside at the Hill location. Great vibe for coffee, but for lunch, it just didn’t live up to expectations this time. We spent about $45 and left still hungry.

The location is really very central and access is quite easy. I love both this branch and other one. They both have a similar comfort and warm atmosphere. When you walk in, a peaceful ambiance always welcomes you. Coffee is truly top quality. That's why I really enjoy coming here. If I'm going to drink my coffee outside, this place becomes my first choice.

Waited 25 minutes for a coffee and avocado toast, which generously contains about a quarter of a small avocado. Saw two kids standing over the food send out counter coughing, into the various foods and drinks that were being called out. The merch looks nice, I guess.
