Island Vintage Coffee

Waimea, Waimea, HI

★★★★4.2(523 Google reviews)

Crema's Take

Tucked into the Kings Shops near Waimea, this spot excels at both craft coffee and island-inspired breakfast, with genuine Kona coffee that actually lives up to the hype and creative signature bowls like the Haupia Moana that rival their excellent espresso drinks. The vibe strikes that perfect balance between a serious coffee destination and a casual morning hangout, where you can grab a meticulously pulled pour-over or a silky coconut milk mocha without pretension. If you're picky about your coffee—and especially if you're finally getting a chance to try truly great Kona—this is where locals and visitors both seem to find what they're looking for.

I visited Island Vintage Coffee twice during my stay on the Big Island. The coffee is great but their Acai bowls are even better! The Haupia Moana Bowl and Waialua Moana Bowl are awesome and very filling. The staff were also very nice and even re-made our order when I accidentally placed the order at the wrong location.

What an incredible coffee shop! You can’t taste a better coffee than Kona Coffee in Hawaii! And especially at this cafè! Try their coconut milk mocha and other beverages! And don’t forget to buy Kona coffee beans! You’ll be glad you did! Thank you guys!

Breakfast place close to Hilton Waikoloa Village at the Kings Shops. But the hot breakfast menu wasn’t visible. It’s on the counter in front of the cashier. Free parking lot.

I’m genuinely confused why this place is rated only 4.1. I’m very picky about coffee, especially drip coffee, and after a few days on the island I was honestly disappointed by most places. When I stayed at the nearby resort, I stopped in here once… and then kept coming back for the next four days. That alone says a lot for me. The drip coffee here is actually good — not just acceptable, not burned or weak. Consistently good every time, which is rare on this island. If you care about coffee, you’ll notice the difference immediately. The acai bowls were incredible, easily one of the best I’ve ever had, anywhere. Fresh, not overly sweet, and really well balanced. I also had the breakfast croissant, which was delicious, and even the small side salad surprised me with how fresh and thoughtful it was. It’s not the cheapest place, but the quality absolutely justifies the price. I wouldn’t have kept coming back if it didn’t. This ended up being one of my favorite spots during the trip, and I’d go back without hesitation.

Fantastic spot to get your morning caffeine fix! We were staying across the street at the Marriott so this was an easy walk to grab my morning chai tea latte. The flavor was wonderful! Their menu also included a wide variety of healthy breakfast options. They had multiple tables inside and out along with a wall full of their coffee blends to take home and some other gift items (coffee mugs, granola, etc). Overall a great local place to grab some coffee and lite bites.
