Crema's Take

Tucked away on Charlotte's Eastside, this charming newcomer from the owner of beloved Manolo's Bakery serves expertly crafted cappuccinos alongside dangerously good pastries in a series of intimate, colorful seating nooks perfect for both quiet conversation and focused work. With a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a hidden gem and a beautiful story woven through its design, it's become an instant favorite for coffee dates, meetings, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape with exceptionally good coffee and pastries.

This is the newest, and only coffee shop in the area by Manolo Betancur, owner of Manolo's Bakery. I had such a wonderful experience coming here, a charming coffee shop that feels like a hidden gem right in the heart of the city. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere — the kind of place that instantly feels like a favorite spot to unwind or catch up with a friend. It is located in east Charlotte, arguably the most diverse part of the city. It is in shopping plaza right next to Manolo's Bakery. There is plenty of free parking. I went for coffee and a almond pastry, and both were delicious. Any coffee here can be paired perfectly with the delicious pastries and gelato they offer. It’s clear that great care goes into everything they serve, and the quality really shines through in every sip and bite. I loved that I could enjoy a thoughtfully prepared coffee drink while savoring the cozy, laid-back vibe of the space. What really sets Changebaker Place apart, though, is its heart. The story behind the café is inspiring and rooted in community and purpose, giving each visit a deeper sense of meaning and connection. It’s not just a coffee shop — it’s a place that celebrates creativity, kindness, and the joy of simple, well-crafted moments. Whether you’re grabbing your morning coffee, meeting a friend, or just looking for a peaceful spot to relax, Changebaker Place is definitely worth a stop. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their offerings!

Our new favorite cafe! Very warm and inviting atmosphere. Plenty of comfortable seating to relax and enjoy conversation with friends. All the pastries look so beautiful. ! I highly recommend the chocolate cannoli! I got a decaf cappuccino, and truly it is the best cappuccino I have ever had! Rich and creamy and not bitter tasting at all. I also tried a pistachio croissant. Something different and super yummy. They also have salads and sandwiches that I look forward to trying the next time we come in. Great addition to the area. I highly recommend this café!

This is such a beautiful coffee shop! There are a few little seating areas so multiple options for a quiet conversation and the decor is lovely and colorful. The pastries were so good that I forgot to take a close-up pic before we ate them, but the croissant and filled doughnut were both incredible. Excellent espresso drinks as well, and all very very reasonably priced. Love this spot and will definitely go a lot. Bonus - it's right next to Manolo's bakery so you can run in there to get extra pastries to take home.

A gem of a find for the Eastside! The cappuccino is expertly crafted and the lemon tart is dangerously good. With its charming, peaceful atmosphere, this is my new go-to for coffee dates and business meetings.
