Conspirators’ Coffee Lounge
133 SW 2nd Ave, Portland, OR
Crema's Take
“Tucked behind a secret password and wardrobe entrance off Burnside, this speakeasy-style coffee lounge wraps you in moody, noir-tinged ambiance that feels equal parts goth bookclub and 1920s conspiracy den. They nail both traditional espresso drinks and creative specialty beverages in a plush, contemplative space that's perfect for lingering with a laptop or meeting someone for unhurried conversation. It's the kind of place that rewards the effort of finding it—expect a short wait on weekends, but a genuinely memorable experience any time you slip through that hidden door.”

A speakeasy-style coffee and cocktail lounge right off of Burnside. It is a cool experience to give them the code phrase and enter through the wardrobe with the dagger key, and the ambiance is very fitting. The service was also friendly, both at the public-facing custard shop and once inside the speakeasy. The menu is about what you’d expect, good coffee and cocktail selection with limited alternate options. I do think that the place is better for the experience than the actual drinks, though. All in all, a cool experience and fun place to visit, but the cocktails probably won’t blow you away.
A hidden café bar inside an ice cream shop. To enter, you must find the password. Once you tell it to a staff member, they will give you the device to gain entry. At first glance, the place looks like a themed café, but if you're observant, you'll find symbolic and esoteric elements befitting a true secret and/or discreet order where ideas are the true currency, where secrets aren't written down but passed on by word of mouth, and where light illuminates reason, not darkness. The atmosphere is incredibly mysterious, perfect for embarking on a path of reflection, for awakening, or simply for enjoying a good cup of coffee in Portland.
This place was packed with a 20 minute wait on a Saturday afternoon in October, but my friend and I were finally able to get in without issue on an early Friday night in November. Decked out with lights for the holidays, this place has an immersive dark academia vibe to it. My friend got a hot chocolate and I got the apple cider with rum cold foam. Probably the best cider of my life so far! Our barista was awesome too, communicated everything on the menu to us well and brought our drinks out quickly. The couch next to the taxidermy cats is super cozy! Highly recommend.
I was down in portland for the weekend and a friend sent me an ig post about this place. I knew instantly i had to make time. There is a password to get in. It felt goth, secretive, plush. Smoky, noirish jazz complimented the red lightning. Tall ceilings. I definitely wished i was up to some surreptitious, bawdy, mischief. The subtle, mellifluous hum of the other conspitors conversing, hung like secrets in the air. I had a chocolate affogato, delicious. Time vanished watching the ice cream melt into my espresso. The wall would open, welcoming new secrets for the louge. Alli, of whom i met the previous day at Toasted, was whipping up succulent offerings. She is devine! They do have a very firm code of conduct while in the lounge.
The Conspiracy Coffee Lounge is an amazing place with unique decor. It offers a quiet atmosphere where you can enjoy a delicious coffee, whether alone or with friends. Alonso, the manager, prepared a drink for me that was not only refreshing but also very delicious and well-balanced in flavor. I highly recommend this place!
