Nana’s Cafe
85 Santa Rosa Ave, Santa Rosa, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked next to the Santa Rosa movie theater, Nana's Cafe is a beloved neighborhood spot where the Vietnamese spicy pork sandwich steals the show—reviewers rave it's addictively delicious and surprisingly affordable. It's ideal for lingering over a slow coffee or grabbing a quick drink and hot sandwich as early as 7am, making it a reliable refuge whether you're waiting for a bus or meeting a friend, though the casual, lived-in space definitely leans more authentic than polished.”

When one is at the bus station, waiting for a while, this is a lovely spot to get a drink and a hot sandwich, even as early as 7am. Very appreciated!
Excellent little cafe right next to the movie theater.Lots of interesting items on the menu.
The Vietnamese spicy pork sandwich was unbelievably good! I swear I could never get enough of it—it’s that delicious. And the food and drinks are surprisingly affordable too.
Dirty cafe. Windowsills with dead flies, carpeting filthy, tables not wiped off between customers. Outdated. Paint job terrible. Table and chairs don't match. Full of live flies daily.
Robusta coffee beans are incredibly earthy and bitter on their own, hence why most traditional vietnamese establishments either use a blend with soybean, red bean, or roasted corn filler to lessen this bitterness. If they don't, they often add spices, liqueur, and similar ingredients to play into the dark flavor profile and broaden it. If none of these things are done, it's often combined with sweetened condensed milk instead to lessen the bitterness. Nana's Cafe does none of this. They serve you a plain black Robusta coffee blend that, even when drowned in half-and-half, will taste like dirt. Their cafe food selection is often store-bought and stale. Their customer service is non-existent. Their seating and atmosphere is terrible. If you read "Cafe" and thought you were getting a nice cafe experience, you're sorely mistaken. They should stick to the few things they're good at: boba and banh mi. And even then, you're much better off going to one of the other two boba shops within a few blocks for better customer service, lower prices, better food selections, and higher quality.
