Crema's Take

Chocolate Maven is a charming Santa Fe institution that doubles as a working bakery and sit-down café, where you can watch fresh pastries come out of the ovens before settling in with a latte and eggs benedict. The vanilla lattes and chocolate croissants are consistently delicious, and the leisurely breakfast atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to linger over coffee and conversation with friends. Fair warning: while the baked goods and traditional espresso drinks are reliably good, their signature hot chocolate doesn't always live up to the hype, and consistency seems to vary with visits.

What to expect

I had breakfast here and ordered the Nova Scotia Omelette and Eggs Benedict—everything was delicious and very well prepared. The vanilla latte was also really good. The service was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back for breakfast.

We came for breakfast this morning. A favorite of ours when we visit Santa Fe. Fresh chocolate croissant, cheese danish and 2 latte’s were perfect to start our day.

The first time we came here it was great, but it has gone downhill every time we've visited after that. The food is alright, same with the service. The drinking glasses and mugs are ALWAYS dirty. They also changed their policy and you have to pay for your pastries separately…
