Crema's Take

Baba Java is a bright, modern neighborhood roastery where the baristas know their craft well enough to remake your drink if it's not right—Will and the team genuinely care about getting it perfect. Their espresso pulls are precise enough that regulars detour specifically for drinks like flat whites, and they've thoughtfully created a flexible space with both cozy indoor seating and street-facing bar spots that make it easy to linger over a pour over or their standout matcha offerings.

Fantastic Customer Service! I ordered a drink that I wasn’t particularly a fan of but Will graciously made me another. I was visiting from Dallas, Tx but I would make this a staple if I lived here

It’s a great local coffee shop that roasts their own beans. The cafe is bright, airy and very modern with lots of seating varying from regular indoor tables to bar type ones that are facing the street and outdoor tables in the food court. Got their espresso & cortado (non-dairy milk is available) and they were prepped great and tasted great. Got some of their beans (The Bluff & China) and they were fresh and easy to dial-in.

I’m happy that a new Baba Java coffee shop opened next to my house. I love matcha coffee the most! Great filtration, excellent baristas, and a wonderful environment! Also, the new combination called blueberry lavender matcha (if I remember correctly) tastes amazing 🤗. Tasty coffee really makes my day!

The espresso drinks here are good enough that I’ll detour to go by here. It’s clean and fast service. It can get a little crowded inside, but there’s plenty of seating outside if the weather’s nice.

Want a coffee? Don’t bother. I am a daily coffee drinker and enjoy my regular specialty espresso, usually a flat white. I also try to support smaller businesses and avoid chains. I came here since this place was one of the few serving flat whites. It was a pure disappointment and a waste of $5. The milk was completely unfrothed and had no foam. The drink had no texture typical for a good flat white. What I received is basically an espresso with a bunch of warm milk. I feel sorry for the wasted coffee beans. I could have gotten the same thing at McCafe for $2. Avoid this place for coffee and just go to straight “June” in Downtown Birmingham.
