Crema's Take

Perched above Fredericksburg's bustling Main Street, this eclectic hilltop spot trades typical tourist fare for thoughtfully crafted dishes and a genuinely laid-back vibe where the staff actually knows their menu. It's the kind of place where you linger over coffee and conversation in the casual, history-filled dining room or on the outdoor seating, equally comfortable grabbing a quick breakfast or settling in for a leisurely dinner with locally-focused wines and spirits. Mark and the crew here treat regulars and first-timers alike with the kind of attentive warmth that makes you feel like you've stumbled onto a well-kept local secret rather than another Fredericksburg destination.

Had a great dinner at Hill Top Cafe! The place is casual, eclectic, and focused on serving truly delicious food. Our experience was a refreshing break from the Main Street dining scene. Everything tasted fresh and made with quality ingredients. The chicken-fried steak was tender and genuinely special. My husband had the red beans and rice with shrimp and absolutely loved it. The veggies were crisp and yummy. We spent the whole dinner raving about how they take classic dishes and make them uniquely their own. We were stuffed but couldn’t leave without trying dessert. As expected, the cobbler was delish! The staff was friendly and provided quality service. We enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. Highly recommend

Mark (spelt M A R K) took great care of us and definitely seemed to know what he was doing. He furnished us with a couple of delicious pizzas and insisted on pouring me a glass of wine before I took off down the hill with the bottle. Two cool dogs. Great outside seating. Dog friendly.

We really enjoyed our meal here and also got some olive oil. The shrimp muting was great. The Greek salad fantastic, the red beans and rice were good but could use some spicy and the catfish was nicely fried

Laid back spot to grab a drink and some good food. Food was flavorful. The burger tasted good but was a bit dense for my taste. I did not care for the truffle fries. The fried steak and gravy was very good

The decoration and history are interesting and fun to check out. The waitstaff are very friendly and attentive. They pass by often but are not intrusive and know the menu items and are helpful with suggestions. If you come on a night with music, be aware that the volume is so very high one will not be able to hear any of one’s company; unless that is the idea- it will not be a nice night. Several of us left with headaches and sore throats. They had nice appetizers. The bread and feta cheese were really good, but again the appetizers were a bit pricy for the quantity. The food was tasty and had some interesting menu items. t was a bit overpriced for the quality, but definitely for the quantity. The burgers were small but good. Truffle fries were delicious. The stuffed peppers were also flavorful, however, the side was white rice which is part of the stuffing for the pepper- they could have used a garlic mashed or even zucchini or other veggies in a nice butter and herbs. The outside areas were open and offered a reprieve from the loud music. The bathrooms were very clean and well kept. Overall we enjoyed the food, but didn’t find the experience earth shattering.
