Crema's Take
“Studio One Cafe is a Eugene institution that excels at creating a welcoming third space with genuinely great staff and an awesome vibe perfect for lingering over coffee or breakfast with friends. While their specialty and creative drinks earn consistent praise, the kitchen shows real inconsistency—some guests rave about perfectly executed breakfast burritos and creative egg benedicts, while others encounter bland, undercooked dishes that don't justify the price point. It's a place worth visiting for the atmosphere and coffee craftsmanship, but manage expectations around the food quality.”

To be clear, the food as a whole is delicious. The staff are great. The vibe is awesome. My gripe is that I ordered biscuits and gravy for 15 dollars. I was expecting home made, especially from a highly rated local place. Instead I was served what basically amounted to Dari Mart biscuit and gravy. Which is also delicious. But if I wanted Dari Mart biscuit and gravy Id have paid 4 bucks for a whole instead of 15. I dont understand how a highly rated local joint is comfortable serving canned gravy and charging 15 bucks.
I don’t understand how this place has good reviews at all. Overall, bland unseasoned food with a consistency problem. Everything I got was slightly undercooked. Eggs super runny yolk even though I order “fried/over hard”, toast barely toasted, potatoes no color or crispness, bacon just barely fully cooked but definitely not crispy. My friend ordered the same meal but with the opposite problem- bacon and toast almost burnt, potatoes looked deep fried too long. And why did one of us get 2 pieces of bacon and the other got 3? So weird. I also have never been to a breakfast place that puts absolutely zero seasoning on their home fries. Tried to salt and pepper them but since they were dry and cold it didn’t stick. Had to cover them in ketchup to choke them down. Also, food came out cold, service was mediocre, wobbly chairs, water tasted soapy. No idea why anyone would eat here.
Great food (breakfast in this case) I had the breakfast burrito with black beans and rice (perfect) and my wife had one of the eggs benedict selections with a light Cajon seasoning and perfectly poached eggs! Along with the great service, the decor is vintage chic with a nice touch of old Hollywood. Most enjoyable! Next visit, lunch. Thank you Studio One Café for an excellent breakfast experience.
Disappointing. At first we thought the food was just bland, but as we continued to eat we noticed stale rice, unnaturally pink sausage, and what seems to be rust in the clogged salt shaker. Incredibly disgusted, especially at this price point. Not to mention they were completely out of fruit. On a Sunday morning? I hope that the management pays closer attention to the cleanliness of their restaurant.
We stopped by on our way from Portland to Crater Lake and tried the Morning Star and Northern Light. It was honestly the best breakfast I’ve had in a while (even the fruit was sooo good!). The servers were all kind and welcoming, and the quiet atmosphere combined with the sunny weather made it perfect. If I come back to Eugene, I’d definitely love to visit again.
