Social House
2100 South St, Philadelphia, PA
Crema's Take
“Social House strikes that sweet spot between a quick caffeine stop and a lingering third place, with a notably calm weekday vibe that makes it ideal for both coffee dates and solo work sessions. The espresso-focused drinks are solid and reasonably priced, though their specialty beverages seem to be a hit-or-miss affair—stick with the classics like cold brew or their well-executed traditional lattes, which pair nicely with their fresh bagels and full breakfast menu. Street parking is genuinely accessible in this Philly neighborhood, knowledgeable baristas, and an inviting atmosphere make it a dependable choice for anyone seeking community in their coffee experience.”

I met a woman here for a coffee date. It was very nice and plenty of seating. Coffee was good. An found parking on the street fairly easy.
Coffee wasn’t good... Service and ambiance are great but flavored latte wasn’t it. Also felt like I was walking into a political ad for the left - didn’t feel very “inclusive.”
Edit: I came back with my partner just to get drinks for our morning walk. I got a cold brew which was reasonably priced and tasted fine, somewhere around $4, and my partner got a matcha that was awful - needed less syrup, more matcha, more ice. It tasted like a marshmallow- not in a good way. Overall it was a bad experience and we won’t be going back. Original: I only got a bagel sandwich here (sausage egg and cheese) and it was only okay. In all fairness, I usually get them on blueberry or everything bagels and they had run out of those and only had plain (I can just before close). Eating a bagel sandwich with a plane bagel is probably the best way to judge one for flavor but I’ve only done it like twice. What I found here is little to no balance in the ingredients: The cheese was all texture and no taste, it added nothing to the sandwich (a good sharp tasting cheddar would have gone a long way). The eggs were bland enough that I forgot they were there. The sausage was alright, maybe a bit too peppery but I bet it would have been much better if it wasn’t the only source of flavor. And I don’t think I can complain about the plain bagel, had good texture. I might come back to try the bacon on an everything or blueberry if they have it, but I might pass. Not sure!
Such a calm vibe 😴 visited at 10 on a weekday morning and got a bagel and latte. Service was fast and friendly. I had a few questions for the barista who was able to answer with confidence. I was surprised at how low the cost was! The toasted marshmallow latte was everything I wanted 🥰 it’s also very clean inside, and in a central location to access many useful businesses on South Street. I’ll definitely be back!
We walked here as a suggestion from our hotel and we were not disappointed. It did take time to wait in line and then to get our order but it was well worth it. We just ordered the everything bagel breakfast sandwich with egg, sausage and cheese, and it was so good and very filling. We only wanted something quick to get our day started and this place turned out to be a good choice.
