Crema's Take
“Lo/Cal Coffee & Market is a genuinely welcoming Santa Monica spot where thoughtfully crafted drinks like their honey lavender cappuccino and iced vanilla oatmilk lattes pair beautifully with exceptional food—their empanadas and breakfast sandwiches are so good they've earned genuine fan devotion. The real magic is in the flexible, chill atmosphere that works whether you're grabbing a quick bite, lingering with your laptop, or hosting a casual gathering across the inviting indoor and patio spaces. The staff's genuine friendliness and willingness to go the extra mile (they'll even help you coordinate party orders) makes this feel less like a coffee shop transaction and more like meeting friends who happen to make really good food.”

Excellent honey lavender cappuccino with super friendly baristas. Really chill space with back patio. Tasty empanadas too!
We ordered empanadas pastries and coffee for our son’s birthday party in the park across the street. The staff we corresponded with was super helpful as we worked to arrange the order and even offered us a discount for the large order. They were all very kind and found us in the park to bring the milk we forgot to pick up with the order. The empanadas were SO GOOD! Made our party very easy for food and delicious. Thanks Lo/Cal!
Love this spot. Iced vanilla oatmilk lattes. Their food is delicious! Love their empanadas. The atmosphere is a vibe whether it’s inside, outside in the back or the front of the shop. Tic-Tac-Toe is a must with the kids.
I always tell my boyfriend that if I ever got rich, the first thing I’d do is hire Steve full-time just to make my breakfast sandwiches. And today? He outdid himself. Starting my morning by biting into pure heaven was unreal. I even bought a lottery ticket — because honestly, hiring Steve to make those otherworldly breakfast sandwiches every day feels like a dream worth chasing.
A decent cafe serving deli sandwiches. Expensive but not absurd, as one sandwich can probably feed 2 and comes with chips. The atmosphere is alright for a short meal but probably not great to sit and get work done if that’s what you intend. Service was good for sitting down. The sandwiches are really delicious, and they have some specialty coffees. Overall, it’s not hard to find a good specialty coffee shop in west LA, and Lo/Cal pulls its weight but doesn’t excel.
