Rosie Jo's Cafe
1711 S 15th St, Ozark, MO
Crema's Take
“Rosie Jo's feels like a genuine community gathering spot where generations come for comfort food that tastes homemade, especially their legendarily crispy fried chicken and from-scratch biscuits. The laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere invites you to linger over breakfast or lunch, though service can be leisurely and seasoning is light—best brought to taste at the table. It's the kind of local institution where imperfection is part of the charm, drawing regulars back again and again despite the occasional hiccup.”

Went there for breakfast very good atmosphere friendly staff. My only real complaint was is that there wasn’t much seasoning on the food had to salt and pepper pretty much everything. But the biscuits tasted homemade and the gravy and the pancake was amazing and huge for four bucks. We’ll definitely be back.
Rosie's is an institution in Ozark. Food is always good. Serving staff is fine but 3 stars as sometimes food delivery is slow. For just a few bucks more than the fast food joints down the street, you can enjoy a real sit-down meal here.
This cafe, located in a strip mall, is an odd one. Upon entry, we noticed several dirty tables and had trouble finding a clean place to sit. The waitress approached us several minutes later, and was short, wanting us to immediately order. Because we’d never been there and hadn’t had time to look over the menu, we obviously felt rushed. I guess that it was good that she showed up then, because she never really returned. At one point, I saw an older man enter the kitchen area, and I heard a waitress ask him where he was sitting. She told him to go sit down and she would bring him some pie. Later, we observed the same man busing a table for two older ladies. From what we could see, he was a customer and not even an employee there. I saw him return the rag that he used to the waitress station. That, obviously, struck us as odd. The food was okay, boxed potatoes and canned gravy was what it was. I had to wait over 15 minutes with a full plate of food sitting in the middle of the table before the waitress approached us again to ask if I wanted a to go box. She begrudgingly asked us if we wanted the ice cream, which is included with entrées. She never told us that we needed to pay in the front, and never brought us a ticket. After waiting so long for service, I just walked up to the register and told them the table number, and was promptly rang up. If this is the norm there, I feel like the waitress could have said something. I used the women’s restroom, which has a distressed floor. However, on top of that floor, there was a Band-Aid stuck to it. I have no idea if it appeared there that day or had been there for months. It just seemed filthy. All in all, the place does not inspire confidence, regarding its lack of cleanliness. I would not return here again.
If you’re looking for a meal that feels like it came straight from Grandma’s kitchen, Rosie Jo’s is the place to go. Their fried chicken is legendary—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and clearly made to order. I highly recommend the fried mushrooms and the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. We also love the potato skins. And if you love chicken livers… you’ll be in awe of Rosie’s crispy taste on a southern favorite. The portions here are huge, the prices are incredibly fair, and the staff makes you feel like family the moment you walk in. Don't leave without trying a slice of their homemade pie (the coconut cream is a game-changer!) and they serve a scoop of ice cream for every costumer. It’s a local gem for a reason. Check it out!
This is the 4th time I have been here. And after our visit today, sadly we will not be back. If it was one or two issues, we could overlook them, but it was so that and a health and safety concern. I do understand it is the holidays and they are busy. So service suffered. Not very friendly staff from any of the staff we encountered. We had to wait a while to get service at our table. We went to get our own menus due to no service. We will survive. Service unimpressive. Eggs came out hard for basted medium. Never asked how food was. We will survive. My husband watched a man sitting at a table at the end of the restaurant for probably half an hour during our time there. A staff member came to that table to wrap silverware. They were touching the eating end of the silverware. Hopefully they washed their hands. Then the man who had been sitting at the table for a while and had not been up to wash his hands started helping with the silverware. Very unsanitary practices and just gross. Hopefully they will get better health and safety practices lines up. Touching silverware and napkins with unwashed hands is not acceptable. This person was in my husband’s view from the table for our duration of the visit.
