Crema's Take

Cloche is a plant-filled sanctuary in Durham where baristas craft their own syrups and take real care with every drink—their vegan mochas and in-house vanilla syrups are particularly beloved. The cozy, aesthetically pleasing space feels genuinely sincere and locally owned, with a spacious outdoor deck perfect for lingering with your laptop or your dog, making it equally welcoming whether you're studying for an exam or just soaking in the warm, plants-everywhere vibe.

Such a warm and cozy vibe filled with plants. If you like plants and coffee you have found your place. It’s also VERY dog friendly. Usually I sit outside when I bring dog as a common courtesy for others. Since it was cold outside they allowed me to keep dog inside with me. She got lots of pets and pup cup.

Cloche coffee is so good and atmosphere is lovely! They make their own syrups. They have a small indoor seating area and a nice large deck. Was my favorite study place when I was prepping for for my exam.

Yum... Had a perfect vegan mocha here and a delicious vegan cookie. The mocha sauce tasted more on the dark chocolate end, maybe homemade; it complimented the latte perfectly; just sweet enough. And the local espresso blend was rich and flavorful. The barista also frothed the oatmilk perfectly, with rich foam and a heart (see picture). I am always on the hunt for good mochas; so many disappoint, but this one made me happy to the last sip. They must be using a good Oatmilk too, it was not watery or sugary. The atmosphere was authentic and spot on. The smells, the plants, the seating areas, the students with their laptops open. I wish this coffee shop was closer, I would be there often. There was not a lot of seating available; students snuggly ensconced in every nook and cranny. The location is right across from the Duke Campus so I'm not surprised. I think I would like to arrive early one day and plant myself midst the smells and light chatter to read a book. The prices were decent, especially for the quality. The service was excellent as well. The young woman who helped me was very gracious about looking to see if their mocha sauce had dairy (it does not). The baked goods looked delicious too; I'm sure they came from a local bakery. There was a cinnamon roll that wound around into a perfect bun which looked like something I would bake. I had a vegan cinnamon apple giant cookie, which had a great texture and moist "cinnamon appleness" inside. The store is on a busy street, but I did find parking. I passed the store twice until I found it; the signage is not good, but be persistent, it is worth it. There was a fairly large outdoor seating area as well. Highly recommended if you are in Durham. I'll be be back!!

The term that comes to mind while visiting here is “sincere”. This local coffee house is very cozy (a little tight tbh) and has all the feels of a cozy locally owned coffee house. The decor is indicative of their support for small business and animals. The coffee was delicious and so was the chocolate pumpkin bread. Traffic here was very steady. I would certainly recommend this place as the service was very prompt and the prices very reasonable. They also have a good selection of teas, and coffee alternatives such as golden milk. The ingredients are real.

Got a large iced vanilla latte. Great latte , good quality oatmilk, in-house syrups, good ratios. Atmosphere is such a vibe it’s very cute & aesthetic in here. NOT a lot of room inside for seating but there’s outside seating. Customer service 2/5. Not very friendly.
