Da Vien Coffee
8968 Garvey Ave a, San Gabriel, CA
Crema's Take
“Da Viên Coffee brings a modern, Instagram-worthy vibe to San Gabriel with a thoughtfully curated menu that goes beyond typical café fare—their matcha drinks are legitimately exceptional, with creamy foam and quality that stands out across the SGV. What keeps people coming back is their willingness to experiment with creative flavor combinations like Ube Matcha Latte and Strawberry Cream Oat Matcha, all built on a foundation of strong, flavorful espresso that clearly matters to them. It's the kind of place where the airy, stylish interior invites you to linger with friends over a genuinely good drink, even if you'll need patience for the line.”

There was a 1 day special BOGO Strawberry Cream Oat Matcha. I ordered at 5:11 pm on the app and it said arrive at 5:21 and it would be ready. I get there around 5:30 and I'm directed to get in line so I think ok it's really busy but maybe half an hour I'll be able to pick up my drink. NOPE After an hour the line finally moves and gets divided into 2 lines based on if you ordered before 6pm or after 6pm. Line doesn't move for another 45 mins. Meanwhile I can see tables through the window filled with unclaimed pre-orders cause they're letting no one in. Finally the line moves as they let people in 1 or 2 at a time. I finally find my drinks searching through all the pre-made ones. I leave at 7:24, about 2 hours after I arrived. I saw people leaving in frustration and considered their payment a donation. Others that asked for a cancelation were told it has to be done through corporate and can't be processed in store. This was on par with a prerelease of an exclusive item and not like it was for a drink at a café. So incredibly mis managed on the ordering system, lines, and pickup process. If I had known the wait would be even close to this long I wouldn't have even ordered. This was my first and last time I'll be going to Da Vien at any location.
Da Viên Coffee in Rosemead is a trendy Vietnamese café known for its strong, flavorful coffee and creamy matcha foam drinks. The modern interior and stylish presentation make it a great spot for photos or a relaxing coffee break. Many customers praise the friendly staff and high-quality beverages, especially the Vietnamese iced coffee, which delivers an authentic caffeine kick. However, parking can be limited and the shop tends to get busy during peak hours, so visiting early in the morning or later in the evening is ideal. Overall, it’s a must-visit café in the San Gabriel Valley for anyone who loves good coffee and cozy vibes.
RECOMMEND: Ube Matcha Latte Constantly craving and wanting to get it. Can't say I am a professional matcha drinker but their matcha is one of the best I've had in the SGV area. Opened this year, and very busy even on a weekday. Love that they have both a kiosk and cashier, and I recommend using the side door to access the kiosk (which usually has a shorter line). While I find no issue with the drink (immaculate), the inside is very crowded and layout of everything is very squished. There is almost no seating left, and when I was there, the table and seats were dirty, which made me not want to sit. It is also hard to know if your order is done because some baristas just put it on the counter. Believe they should have a screen with done and not done order numbers due to how many drinks they serve. Pretty confusing when everyone's drinks are super similar and the baristas just shove it all together. Can't blame them though because it was just so jammed pack. While I didn't order at the counter, I noticed the cashier was very friendly and welcoming, so cheers to that. Hopefully next time I go, the place will be more tidy. Can't wait! reviewed 07/22/2025
4.5, pretty good and strong coffee, i really like their options. ive tried da vien latte, coconut, ube, and matcha* and they were all good! a bit of a wait because there’s a lot of people. they have wifi and nice seating areas but a lot of people so it might be hard to find a spot to sit in. staff are nice.
Finally opened in SGV! The inside has such a modern and airy feel, with ample places to sit. The line can get long and the plaza is hard to find parking, but the drinks are worth it. I love their egg coffee and the da Vien Coffee, 50% sweetness is perfect. Doesn't hurt that Bake & Che is next door for Vietnamese desserts too. I'm so glad for these spots so close to me now without having to go all the way to OC.
