Tango Pastry

Crema's Take
“Tango Pastry brings Argentine soul to DC with hand-crafted espresso drinks and buttery pastries that justify the devoted following—regulars have driven 40+ minutes just for their legendary empanadas and seasonal creations. The small, convivial space strikes that perfect balance between a focused craft coffee bar and a European-style café where you can linger over exceptional quince and ricotta pie, all while genuinely warm staff guide you through their rotating menu with real care.”

Tango Pastry is fantastic! Their espresso driven drinks are hand crafted in front of you and taste delicious. The menu has good selection and there is always a fun seasonal drink to choose from. Service is friendly and fast. It's a great place on H to grab a local, but unique cup of coffee.
Small, cozy Argentine pastry and empanada spot with plenty of seating for individuals or small groups. The beef empanada was flavorful, and while the croissant bread tasted slightly stale, the dulce de leche cream was delicious. Two empanadas, a croissant, and a pack of alfajores came out to around $30. Overall good, but the food didn’t taste day of fresh.
What a perfect little cafe. I happened to be walking by as they were almost closing and they were so sweet and made recommendations. I had the Quince and Ricotta pie and both were perfect. Ricotta is for those that prefer milder desserts like cheesecake. The Quince was my favorite but I’ve always loved anything Quince. It’s cozy, perfect for a coffee date or catching up with a friend.
Tango Pastry and Dessert is truly a gem! Excellent food and excellent service from start to finish. The tango dance performance was absolutely amazing and added such a unique touch to the experience. I also want to appreciate the chef — he’s not only the owner, but a true chef with real talent and passion. Everything was perfect. Highly recommended!
This is hard to write because I remember when tango was in VA. I would happily drive 40 min plus to buy there empanada and sándwich de amingas… I went to go try them at there new location in dc and I was disappointed. The spinach empanada didn’t have flavor and the ham and cheese empanada was burnt. Now my tried and true sandwhich aminga are my all time favorite but they did not meet my expectations this time. They were small and the taste was mostly of mayo… As someone who is born and raised in BA I was sad because I know there food were amazing before! I don’t know if they changed people or cooks but the taste is different, I hope I just came in on an off day.
