Crema's Take
“Annelore's German Bakery transports you straight to a European café with its authentic German pastries and breads that justify the drive, whether you're seeking a Black Forest cake or their celebrated German loaves made with genuine craftsmanship. The unhurried atmosphere invites you to linger over fresh pastries and light fare in a place with ample parking, where every item—from savory options to seasonal treats like pumpkin chocolate chip scones—tastes like it was just pulled from the oven. This is the kind of neighborhood gem that keeps people coming back because it refuses to compromise on quality, making each visit feel like a small escape to something real and carefully made.”

Went for the first time yesterday. I have never been to a German bakery that wasn't just AMAZING! This place did not disappoint. Let me say first, the place is one that you'd want to go every chance you get. It is bright, cute and most of all clean! They even got 100% on their health dept evaluation, they're not giving me anything to say this. This place is so inviting, you want to come and bring a friend, it's just that nice! The lady behind the counter was so nice and friendly. I was afraid she might rush us because it was close to closing but she was great! I got the carrot cake and the lemon cake. They were both very fresh but I have to say that carrot cake O EEMM GEEE! THE BEST EVER! If you like carrot cake go for it! You wont be disappointed, in fact, you might become obsessed! I live more than an hour away, now when I come to Trader Joe's I will make a stop to Annelore's!
★★★★★ Plus – An Ode to True Craftsmanship There are places that redefine what quality truly means. This is one of them. How do you make a perfect place even better? You come here. You experience real, authentic craftsmanship. You taste what quality means when it is not claimed, but lived — consistently and uncompromisingly. Annelore and Norbert have created a place where craftsmanship, precision, warmth, and reliability come together at the highest level. Quality here is not explained — it is felt in every detail, seen in every product, and tasted in every bite. For seven years now, I have been coming here regularly whenever business brings me to town. And every single visit feels like coming home. The products are always fresh, crafted to perfection, full of flavor, and a genuine pleasure. No two visits are the same — yet the promise of excellence is always fulfilled without exception. My sincere thanks go to Annelore and Norbert, as well as to the entire team, for their daily dedication. For the passion, the attention to detail, the genuine care for people, and for making every guest feel truly welcome — not just served. You don’t leave this place simply satisfied. You leave with a smile and a sense of appreciation. A place with soul. A place with character. A place you always want to return to. Thank you — and here’s to many more moments of true enjoyment.
Came here for the German loaf bread and treats. Glad that we have this great choice of German healthy bread here in NC. 🫶 It’s a trip, but we love traveling when it leads to great discoveries. 🤩 Besides the bread, they have a great selection of sweet treats to satisfy your cravings, and everything we tried was delicious. 🤤 We will be definitely back for sure! 👍
It’s honestly heartbreaking. My husband went out of his way to order a Black Forest cake for me three days in advance, spent over $100, and even took our toddler on a long trip to Cary just to pick it up. And for what? This was the worst cake I’ve ever had. The bottom layer was rock hard and bone-dry, the chocolate was pale, bland, and completely flavorless, and there was absolutely none of the signature fragrance of good chocolate, cherries, or kirsch that a real Black Forest cake should have. I grew up eating this cake — I know exactly how it’s supposed to taste — and this wasn’t even close. To make it worse, the cherries were soggy, dull, and old-looking. The whole thing was honestly inedible. At this point, you’d be better off grabbing a cake from a grocery store bakery. Shocking. Never again. Sadly we have to throw it away in the bin.
There’s plenty of parking and a wide variety of both sweet and savory options. Prices are reasonable, and everything feels freshly made. I tried the pumpkin chocolate chip scone — it had just the right amount of sweetness and wasn’t too dry. Definitely worth a visit!
