Hawaiian Moons Natural Foods

Crema's Take
“Tucked into Kihei, Hawaiian Moons is a natural foods market that doubles as a genuine destination for fresh, made-with-care bowls and sandwiches, with their açaí bowls and vegan burgers earning devoted repeat visits from locals and travelers alike. The shop strikes that rare balance between a quick grab-and-go spot and a place worth lingering, where you can pick up groceries, sip a cold brew or matcha tea, and feel like you've stumbled onto something real rather than touristy. Fair warning: the service can be inconsistent, but when the team is on, they put real care into every order.”

I'm visiting the island so I was looking for a natural food store to get lunch, and I came across this store which seemed to have a pretty nice selection of lunch options. I ordered a tuna sandwich, but when I got the sandwich I realized that it had not been toasted which I am accustomed to from the restaurants back home so I figured I will just let the people at the counter know that I forgot to tell them I want it toasted, and can you please toast it. So that's exactly what I did..... I kindly asked him would you mind to please toast the sandwich. The gentleman behind the counter started talking me into some weird Circle until I finally had to ask him do you have a toaster? At which point he said yes so I said what is the issue exactly. So he goes to the back and gets the manager. She comes out and first thing she says is " what is the problem?" ... so to me the obvious answer to this was " there is no problem... I just would like to have my tuna sandwich toasted." From here things really started to go downhill very quickly. She became extremely condescending and passive aggressive saying things like " how am I supposed to toast it?"... " how am I supposed to do that now?" .. until I finally volunteered the idea that they make a new sandwich that is toasted. She then asked me if I would pay for it and I said no. I don't know how to explain the rest of the conversation other than that I studied psychology in school and she was gaslighting me to an extreme degree. Until finally she started yelling "let It go"... I told her I was just trying to have a conversation with her and resolve the issue I come from a customer service background and the way that you treated me was horrible. In fact, I rarely very rarely put bad reviews for a business. But this type of psychological manipulation and hostile behavior from a manager is completely unacceptable. I don't necessarily wish anybody to lose their job however this woman needs a Stern talking to and retraining on how to treat people. If she didn't want to make this remake the sandwich she can say that but she does not have to deliver that in such a condescending way. I do believe this woman has psychological problems and needs help. I hope she gets the help that she needs as well as retraining on how to be a manager and deliver reasonable customer service.
We went to buy groceries but were vowed by the fresh food and smoothies. The vegan burger was one of the best I’ve ever had EVER. Since turning vegan I always missed a good burger. Will be going pretty much every day for the burger and the Sunset smoothie.
God forbid you bring something back for a return. One of the manager's made a rude comment so I was upset and left the receipt. Came back to try again and she was even ruder, insisting I took the receipt with me. I said I know for a fact I didn't take it- because you were rude, I told you that you were being rude, and I was upset and left. She said something about getting the video footage and I said to go for it. For her to get the video footage and I should have it at home if I took it, right? Sounded easy enough. So I came back because I did not have the receipt, like I said. And to be honest, either way she was super rude. Isn't the motto," the customer is always right?". I literally spent over 400.00 on that trip alone and have given them countless recommendations. Not anymore. The owner then was extremely rude and said it was " unsellable" when the package was still completely intact, and product still sealed, unused, unopened. But he yelled at me that it was "unsellable" and to not come back. Gladly, jerk. Just beware. I don't know why they take returns so offensively- when it was clearly in sellable condition. Maybe you should take some homeopathic Midol.... your attitude sucks. I hope you get some help because I was the wrong person to take your issues out on. Below are photos and video of the products I was returning. The "unsellable" condition they were in and all.🤣🤣🤣
Hawaiian moons has been around for a long time it sells excellent produce and great deli wonderful place to get all sorts of groceries and health food
Easily the best açaí bowl on Maui. Great tasting, fabulous portion and generous toppings. The staff really made with care and took their time. All of us loved it so much that we went again the next morning. Delicious coffee too. We also tried out the organic papaya which was fantastic as well. Great selection of produce, natural goods and yummy baked goods. Wish we found this sooner on our trip!
