Crema's Take

This Oakland Philz location earns passionate devotion from regulars, particularly for barista Jessie, whose genuine enthusiasm and attentiveness elevates every order into a personal connection. The shop captures that coveted "vibe" with creative signature drinks and espresso-focused creations, though service speed can be inconsistent—worth planning ahead for if you're in a rush. Despite occasional hiccups, the warm, knowledgeable staff and quality drinks make it feel like a neighborhood gem where the baristas actually care about your experience.

Been in Oakland for two weeks and I can assure that it's easily the best coffee in the area. Shout out to Jessie for that extra touch. You can tell he truly loves what he does. Amazing barista

If I could be honest with y’all, there’s only two words that could describe this Philz location in the hills of Oakland: mixed thoughts. This Philz Coffee is very much a vibe, and they make the best drinks, but its customer service is very questionable to say otherwise. While I’ve had good experiences here before in terms of guest interaction, there are times where I don’t feel welcome (despite their poster saying that everyone is treated equal in the establishment). The recent time that I went to order a tiramisu latte from this location, I was met with glares from not only the customers, but also from the staff as well. I was told to wait in line when there was clearly nothing big going on (no long lines, no online delivery orders constantly popping off on the receipt dash). Mind you, I had to wait 10 minutes to ORDER a cup of coffee — and I was the only person standing in line, while the baristas were chatting it up while making it coffee. Please make it make sense. The tiramisu latte that was made was honestly questionable — while I had asked for oat milk, they put whole milk in there instead. The details really matter a lot to me, and I had wished they heeded my preference over just making a drink. There was a lot of attitude thrown at not just me, but with other customers alike who were after me as well. The people taking orders were very unnice and unprofessional, and it didn’t really align with what I had in mind. Thinking about the future, I am questioning whether or not I will come to this location again for my coffee.

INCREDIBLY SLOW. People who ordered after me got their drinks before me (and one of the drinks was the same as mine) which is very upsetting when you’ve waited long enough. The lady who took my order was very nice but the baristas are not friendly. Also unsanitary as the male barista with glasses keeps touching his face and glasses and while doing drink prep. My drink wasn’t even good. Don’t come to this locations

I had picked up from Too Good To Go before, great experience and staff's were awesome! We came by yesterday and still an awesome experience from the staff! Super friendly and drinks were delicious!!! We ordered the Mint Mojito Ice Coffees, I highly recommend getting it extra sweet and creamy! It was a perfect sunny day to stroll through the Farmer's Market in the Grand Lake area. This location used to be Starbucks. There is one located around the corner where KFC is used to be. Phil's pastries are also delicious, I believe they're from a local bakery. Again, I recommend this Phil's Coffee and am glad it's closer to me!
