Crema's Take

Rockridge Cafe is a beloved neighborhood institution where Saturday morning slowness is the whole point—servers let you linger over bottomless coffee and their signature ricotta pancakes without any rush to leave. The classic diner atmosphere and consistently solid breakfast menu make it an ideal spot to meet friends or settle in for a leisurely meal, though you might want to manage expectations on portion sizes relative to price. It's the kind of place locals return to again and again for that reliable, homey breakfast comfort.

Server was nice. Ordered a soup and sandwich (toast was almost inedible) and the cup of soup is served in a half size ramekin which was about 3 bites. We also got the chilaquiles and it was dry tortilla chips with dry eggs and mystery meat. They realized they forgot the tomatillo sauce and tossed it on the plate cold. That dish was $22. Looking at the reviews maybe your Mexican breakfast dishes needs some love.

This place makes me feel like I'm at home on a Saturday morning. My go to breakfast? Ricotta Special: Two ricotta cakes, one egg, and your choice of two bacon strips or pork links. Served with real maple syrup. All for about $19.00. And don't forget some of the best coffee served in the East Bay. Never rushed, always friendly, reasonably priced and consistent. If you find yourself walking casually up College Ave some morning, Matt says check out Rickridge Cafe. It will take you back to your childhood

Great breakfast spot in hidden gem Oakland neighborhood. Classic diner interior. The service doesn’t rush you, so perfect for meeting up with friends or colleagues. The menu satisfies all egg urges.

This cafe has been in the neighborhood for a long, long time and is a local favorite for breakfasts, brunches and lunches. The atmosphere is casual and diner-like and the foods as expected in a cafe style restaurant. There’s also some counter seating that looks into a busy open kitchen. It’s actually a nice place to hang out or meet up with someone.

Short version: Friendly service, tasty ricotta pancakes, bottomless coffee, disappointing portions for the price—mainly the breakfast burrito. ——— My significant other and I were looking forward to a nice breakfast. He was thrilled there was a vegan option but when the burrito arrived, we were flabbergasted by the size for $17. We thought, at that price, it was going to be some epic burrito, but it was barely larger than the frozen breakfast burritos you can buy at the grocery store for $3.50. Pictured is half of the barely filled, baby-sized burrito. I should have had him place it on his palm. This thing was the tiniest restaurant / cafe burrito I’ve seen in my life. It did come with a small side of potatoes (photos on their website show far more potatoes). They would have been better in the burrito, but they didn’t have the right size burrito wrap for it to be any larger. On the plus side for those who drink coffee: if you order it, your cup will overfloweth as they are very on top of coffee refills. I’m not a coffee drinker so that doesn’t benefit me. Perhaps that’s what draws people in? I’m glad that others in the area seem to enjoy this place. The portions are better for small eaters, but way overpriced for what you receive. We’re probably not coming back.
