La Bou Bakery & Cafe

7250 Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael, CA

Crema's Take

This Carmichael spot excels as a leisurely gathering place where regulars come back multiple times a week for genuinely skillful baking—their pastries and lemon bars consistently earn praise—paired with smooth, well-executed traditional espresso drinks and a rotating menu of balanced soups and salads. The warmth of the staff shines through in reviews, creating a comfortable retreat that draws in the neighborhood's community, though fair warning that portions trend modest and prices reflect the quality-focused approach. It's less a grab-and-go coffee stop and more an invitation to settle in with a French roast and fresh pastry while you catch up with friends or neighbors.

Food is very good. The prices are on the high side. It’s kind of a cramped dining area. Majority of clientele are elderly folk.

Smooth French roast, unbelievably delicious and rich bakes, perfect lemon bar and espresso! They also have soups of the day, salads, paninis, sandwiches and french bread! TOTAL HAPPINESS #labou #labousac #laboursactown

Was super disappointed in the amount of food you get for the price. The sandwich was dry & has maybe 2-3 pieces of meat on it like what? Are you kidding? Lol. The salad was so small. Both so bland. Added a cookie and a bottled water and the price was $17. Ooof. Do not recommend. Go somewhere where they actually put effort into their food and it’s worth the money.
