Crema's Take

This beloved Boston institution draws crowds for its legendary hot chocolate, a rich and silky signature drink that keeps locals and visitors coming back despite the premium price tag. Beyond the chocolate magic, L.A. Burdick shines as a welcoming spot for lingering over exceptional pastries and creative specialty drinks in a clean, friendly atmosphere that feels as much like a gathering place as it does a destination shop. Fair warning: lines are common at this busy location, but the quality and warmth of the experience make it worth the wait.

What can I say? If you live in Boston and have not been to LA Burdick, you are missing out! I know most folks visit for the chocolate drinks but for me it’s the pastries and no one’s talking about them enough! I get the dark chocolate and raspberry pastry or the earl blueberry cake AT LEAST once a week (sometimes two). They’re to die for - especially the earl because it has so much character. Another one of my favorites (not pictured here), is the passionfruit mousse cake. Highly recommend them all!

Tried the Hot Milk Chocolate today. It was served very hot, which I like, but the flavour was very off. Tasted kind of fishy and weird. For $10, it didn’t seem to live up to the hype. Maybe the dark chocolate might be better next time. Seating is very limited too, even on a tuesday evening it was busy.

This is one of the more busiest locations in the Boston area. Clean facilities. Public restrooms. Nice staff. The hot chocolate ☕️ is the star ⭐️. On the expensive side so bring your credit cards 💳. There’s always a line for the tables, but it moves quickly. Give it a try if you’re in the area. We will definitely be going back.

I only tried the chocolate, and it was super good. There was a line, but it moved quickly and wasn’t bothersome. The flavor was delicious and not too thick. For such a famous place, the area is quite small, and you have to wait to sit and enjoy the chocolate. Still, the atmosphere was very cozy, and the lighting gave it a special touch.

I’m not a huge chocolate fan, but I loved this place!!! They seriously have THE BEST chocolate drinks that I’ve ever tasted!!! Came here to get a hot chocolatey drink on a cold fall day before this place gets too busy for local folk in the winter season. I can definitely see why people wait in line in the cold for this though. This place is so cute on the inside, and it’s filled with so much chocolate to purchase. The little shaped chocolates are so cute!!! I like that they have a little seating area as well. My partner and I both ordered a “mocha” type drink … his with dark chocolate and mine with milk chocolate. These were seriously so heavenly, and I’m craving one right now just thinking about it. We also tried two desserts, which were well worth the price … and the calories. This place is definitely a special occasion place. Not sure if I could afford this on a regular basis, but I’m so glad that I got to try it out. I definitely recommend this place … even if you’re not a chocolate lover. This place will definitely change your mind!!!
